I ran out of Marigold engevita nutrtional yeast. no problem, went to my local HFS and they placed and order. I went to pick it up on Tues and the owner guy said it didn't come in, the distributor said it was back ordered. "Waaaa!" i said "I need my flakes of cheesy goodness!" But he said they have another distributor and I asked him to order me a case because I didn't want to run out again. the following Tuesday I went into the shop and he looked wild eyed and panicked and said the second destributor said it was being DISCONTINUED. It was like a scene in an action film where everything is slow motion and I'm screaming NOOOOOOOOOOO and diving sideways over a case of spelt pasta. He says he didn't know if that meant it was being discontinued from that distributor or God forbid, Marigold will no longer be making it. I am having severe withdrawl from the flakes of cheesy goodness. I wanted macaroni cheese. So i told Spiderman who said "let's order from Goodness direct" but lo and behold they are CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK.

What does this mean??????????????????????????????????????????

Will there be no more cheesy flakes in the UK? Will Heather die without her beloved mac and cheese? Is there somesort of engevita conspiracy?

Anyone else having nutritional yeast withdrawl???

Ok, I don't even want to think of that possibility. Recently, I had a really hard time finding nutritional yeast in Surrey (visiting my bf), as no-one carried it!! So, I'm thankful that I can find it easily here in Manchester, and wouldn't want to jeopardise my chances of getting hold of it (yes, you'll have gathered by now I'm a n.y. fiend). I'll stop by my hfs on the way home and ask them about this. I'll report back this evening.

They still have it on the shelf at the HFS in our town, but I overheard the owner of an Oxford shop telling this same thing to a customer when we were there about ten days ago. IS ordered some RedStar for me from the States, because we had to get our Vit. D there, and the RedStar is fortified. The man complains about the smell of Engevita, but I absolutely love it. Better than any commercial cheese replacement I've tried (and I've tried a LOT of them, heh)

I say we march on the factory and demand Engevita! Power to the people!

Ok, I asked at my HFS, and they said they had problems with their suppliers too, but they changed supplier and just had a new shipment in. They hadn't heard anything about it being discontinued. The nice man at the hfs offered that maybe Marigold is redesigning some of its packaging, and that can play havoc with new orders and the such. So, it seems that it'll be ok. :)

Haven't bought any for ages, but I would hate to think of 'nooch' being discontinued!

Yes thank you for the support. I can hold up my head and say "my name is Heather and I am an engevita-aholic." i eat the flakes of cheesy goodness at least once a day and cook with it at least twice a week. I have had none for 2 weeks and am in serious withdrawl. I will check back with goodness direct to get me over the cravings until my HFS gets sorted. I hope it is just repackaging.

My only complaint is *why can't they fortify it with B12 like redstar?*

Jen how expensive was it to get some red star from the states and how long did it take?

aha, so it is Redstar that is fortified with B12? I remember seeing a brand of fortfied nutritional yeast at someone's house and have wondered what brand it was for ages :hamster:

SG...I'm not sure how much the RedStar was, but it was pretty reasonable (IS did the actual ordering). It took forever and a day, but that was largely because of the postal strike, I think :brood: Vegan Essentials posted it in a very timely fashion, but it took like 3-4 weeks to arrive, I think. All in all, this American = not too impressed with the Post Office (I have stories :p)

I'm crying over my mac (no cheese) Maybe we can score some at whole foods on the meet-up day. (That sounds like drugs--"score some" but I am seriously addicted and in crisis here!) Or if there is only one cannister it might turn ugly like the Cabbage patch dolls shortage in the 80s in the US and we'd be having a throw down for the last box of flakes of cheesy goodness.

Has santa sent an early gift to me? I was surprised to come home to 3 cans of the lovely flakes of cheesy goodness on my doorstep on Friday. I thought my husband the wonderful Spiderman had tracked me some engevita down and so when he came in the door at 4:00 I jumped him and shagged him within an inch of his life as a thank you. After he got his breath back he said "wow...what was *that* for?" and I explained how I had recieved my engevita that he ordered and duh duh DUH! he didn't order me any.

So the question stands--do i have a mysterious benefactor? Have santa's elves come by early? I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, whoever you may be and I cannot shag you, but I will kiss your feet in gratitute.

I would love to do a proper thank you so if you are an elf let me know. Otherwise...it remains a mystery.

Spidergrrl all covered in flakes as she has been eating directly from the container (because she can) *contented sigh.....*

Good good. I'll take a walk to my hfs later this week then... i miss my nooch! I bought some vegan parmesan to try and fill the void, but it's just not the same!
