A lot of companies who make natural/organic products are owned by corporations. Like Toms of Maine which was bought out by Colgate. It's sad, but large companies see where consumer trends are going and they would be making a mistake not to jump on board.

Just to add it : Clorox tests on animals (owned by P&G). Burts Bees will NOT be changing, they will continue not to test on animals. But for those of us who don't buy from subcompanies who's parent-company tests I thought it was vital information.

It a dilemma knowing where to draw the line... like when The BodyShop was sold to L'Oreal.
LUSH seem to be my favourite right now. None of their ingredients or finished products are tested on animals and loads of their products are vegan.
But one could argue the point further and say you shouldn't buy your veggies from the same supermarket that sells meat...
The vegan path is not easy that's for sure!!

I like the way you put that...
...and everyone has thier own line.
I suppose it may depend on whether or not anything changes within the sub-company.
Forgive me for using fast foods restaraunts as examples:
When Carl's Jr. bought Hardees, they went in and changed the menu up, removed the fried chicken...and eventually the same thickburgers you can get at Carl's Jr...but the left the breakfast pretty much alone.
But, when KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut came together...they pretty much stayed the way they each were...and any changes made were a chain's response to changing public demands.

it's all about supply and demand.
if you keep buying burt's bees, clorox will make money yes but if they see money going to the cruelty free products and not the others it could make a difference in how they do things.

exactly. and if we stop buying it because of who it's owned by, it will no longer become available to us. We all want more variety, but then get upset when a multinational corporation buys a smaller company, and in some cases helps to make it something you can find everywhere.
