About two weeks ago, I pulled a muscle in my right leg. We were doing physical warm-ups for a play that I was in, and I just went too far. I'm not sure what muscle it is, but I can tell you that it's in my thigh, and it's between my groin and the side of my leg (basically it's right up the back of my leg). I've tried hamstring and groin stretches, but these don't do anything; I can stretch just as far as I normally can without any pain whatsoever.
Here's the issue: I have an audition for a musical on November 18th. This audition includes dancing, though I admit I don't know how vigorous the dancing will be. I am auditioning for one of the leads, so I really need to be able to give the audition my all.
So! What can I do to aid in the healing of this muscle. The only stretch that feels like it's helping anything is when I straddle and lean forward. I do this morning and night for about half an hour to an hour (depending on how much time I have). This really helps relieve the tightness of my leg, but it's only temporary, and my leg is just the same by the next morning.
Any help??

I am not an expert, but I will tell you from my experience of dealing with a couple of muscle pulls myself. They can be nasty and long-lasting.

- Protect the strained muscle from further injury and rest the strained muscle. You might need to take a break from your training. Yes, I know you have these important auditions coming up, but if you do further damage, this injury could stay with you for many months to come.
- Ice the pulled muscle for 20 minute-intervals a couple of times a day. Ice is very effective in reducing inflammation.
- Make sure the stretches you are doing are gentle. You don't want to pull the muscle even further.
- Since the injury is two weeks old, I am not sure if this would help, but normally I would also use compression (such as ace bandage if you can figure out how to wrap it around there).

Also do you have a dance teacher? Ask them for further advice.

ETA: Also take ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory.
