You probably don't want to 'lose fitness'! :D What are you asking? You can safely lose up to 2 pounds per week with an aggressive food and exercise plan.

I think she means if you stop exercising how long does it take you to lose tone. I think it depends on how fit you are initially. I start to notice a drop in fitness after a week of not doing anything. Muscle tends to become less defined over a lot longer period though for me, like months.

Oh, I see. This is a very hard question to answer. It's like asking, "What color is a car?"

oh bother (teehee. "what colour is a car"...funny).
its just because I've exercised every day barring a 2 day weekend here and there because i feel nuts without it..but this week haven't felt like it at all, have exams so have gone out for breakfast and study breaks with friends instead ..or slept!!! it was gonna be 3 days..but now im really enjoying this. if i go the whole week will i struggle apon returning, is what i mean. because i'd rather bother a little now than really struggle when im back?!

There is a fine balance between staying interested in exercise and burning out on it. Do whatever you can to keep fitness in your life, but if you're getting bored or unmotivated, change it up. Go for walks with friends or use one of those Scott's Push Mowers for a few hours. Whatever you do, do not get into a habit of complete lack of exercise. Months will go by before you know it.

From my experience I lose optimal fitness pretty darn fast. Complete transformation into jell-o takes a awhile longer. A few years back I came to a decision to always have a exercise routine and never lapse to the point where I return to my former "chubby" self. Now it is a integral part of my lifestyle and not simply a fad or fantasy that I do for a 6 week or 6 month period and then drop because of boredom.
A heel tendinitis injury right now is forcing me to come up with new ways to keep my fitness level within my desired range of acceptability.

working out everyday can cause you to have joint problems and other problems. you intend to be healthy but working out daily, especially if they are similar workouts, can cause undue stress, esp if your body isn't getting to rest and recover fully between workouts.

A 2 day recovery is often GOOD FOR the body! You shouldn't be working out every single day.... Even if you are addicted to it or are really determined to change your shape, 1 to 2 days rest will get you closer to your goals... not farther away from them.
