Ok so I weigh 54kg and am 19 years old. It does not seem a lot I know. I am not in any way saying I am 'fat'. I have a great body - but! due to my lack of excercise, lately a lot of my weight has been going to my legs and so I have a bit of cellulite happening there. Nothing ever goes to my arms or tummy - only my legs.

So whenever I tell someone I am vegan they're like OMG YOU'RE VEGAN NO WONDER YOU'RE SO SKINNY YOU'RE GOING TO DIE COS YOU'RE NOT GETTING THE VITAMINS YOU NEED TO LIVE OH NOES!!!!!!!

It is so annoying because they don't understand that even vegans gain weight if vegans don't exercise.

People just assume that if you don't eat meat you will be super skinny always - SIGH!

People are stupid!

i knew someone who actually gained quite a bit of weight when she went vegan. since it was harder to find storebought snacks and sweets she could eat she learned to bake her own, and i guess kinda went overboard. last time i saw her she was probably a size 14-16, before going veg she was about a 10.

People are always saying "YUR TOO SKEENY. EAT MEAT." And urrg. They forget that I've always been this way. I realize I'm not average, but who cares?

If I start dying of heart failure due to poor nutrition, then maybe I'll try to gain weight. But I eat fine as far as I'm concerned.

Too skinny, too fat, whatever. People are lame.

indeed.
i get it all the time too "no wonder you're so skinny blahblahpuke". this is my response:
a. i've always been roughly this size/weight and haven't always been veg
b. all the women on my mom's side are tiny, it's genetics
c. i walk and/or bike everywhere. strange things happen when you get off your butt once in a while.
d. poking fun at someone for being skinny is the same as poking fun at someone for being overweight IMO. why is it socially acceptable to make fun of thin people but not heavy people
e. mind your own damn business

So true. There is this very skinny girl who goes to my school, and she is constantly being told to eat more. Trust me, this girl eats! She is about 5'7 and probably has a 16-19 inch waist. Her bone structure is just so tiny. True, she does look a little, well, anorexic, but it's just the way she is.

How do you know? It's not like she would just admit it to everyone if she was. Lots of people with EDs just say that's how they naturally are, it's not like they want to broadcast it.

16 in waist would be as small around as my leg, are you sure it's not closer to 22-24 inches?

I would know, I have/had one.

While I would not call this girl a friend, I do know her well... She does not have an ED. This has something to do with the way she was born.

Yes, I am sure it is between 16-19 inches (probably closer to 19)... I have a 21-22 inch waist...

I don't think you understand the her actual bone structure is tiny. If she was overweight, she would still be tiny. Also, none of her bones show.

I have a bit of cellulite happening there

massage helps with this. i know it sounds nuts, but i get a bit of it too (on my butt and upper thigh in the back).

when i get massage, i don't have it. when i don't get massage, i have it. my massage therapist tells me that it's lack of circulation/trapped lymph. i believe him, because after getting massage (even only one or two), i'll be without that "cellulite" look for months, and then it will return (as i said, months later), and if i get a few massages, it goes away.

right now, i get weekly massage.

The world record for the smallest waist is 15" and that is with intense corset training over years and years.

I totally feel you.
I am thin, but thats just good genes and a crap load of exercise.
At the gym people used to always stare at me and say I wasn't supposed to be there.
Then my mum got a t-shirt for me that says- "what are you looking at?"
People don't bother me so much now ^^
Just ignore them. If you're healthy and energetic then theres no need to change anything.

......omnis are just jealous that us veg*ns can eat loads (of good healthy food) and be so slim

So it is. That does not mean her waist can't be 19 inches, now does it?

No, actually I just checked that and 15" is the record for a living person, just under 13" is the actual record.

I looked at the picture of the girl who hold the record and her shoulders and actual body frame looks rather broad (probably due to the small waist). The girl I am talking about has a very small frame, it's not very wide.

It's not like it matters that much anyway.

i will never understand people like that. like they think only overweight people go to the gym

whenever someone asks me how i stay thin (i'm not super thin, size 7/9) i tell them i go to the gym 6 days a week and they always seem to disappointed that i couldn't tell them the big being thin secret

You said 16 inches earlier!
Yeah so the 13 inch person is dead, still shows that your friend who (at one point was said to) has a 16 inch waist naturally to be rather... improbable. This 15inchers still holding a record

19 yeah i can believe that though. oh well, life goes on!

This thread is making me want to measure my waist...

I've been skinny my whole life, so no one's trying to blame it on my vegetarianism, but my grandparents are convinced that I'm going to wither away and die now that I've cut so much from my diet. I don't take it to heart. I have a fast metabolism, nothing I can do about it. I just have to make sure I eat healthily and don't worry about what other people think I should do.

i don't feel so bad now. i'm "tiny" and "too skinny" and all that, yet my waist is 28". i carry all my weight around my belly/waist and don't have much fat or muscle on my limbs. so i look lighter than i am. people usually think i way 90lbs or less when i'm actually closer to 110. they also refuse to believe that i have a belly. i hide it that's all.
