Has anyone else tried the new steaming bags? I've seen a few different brands making them lately. My mom picked me up a pack of the Ziplock brand the other day at the store. I used one today, and I like it pretty well. It does taste a bit different than traditional steaming, but I say they would be good on the run. I cooked carrots and broccoli together, which I wouldn't reccomend. There's different times on the bag for each food, but I already had them in there. A few pieces were brunt a bit, but most was rather tasty!

I have been so curious to try these. I've been seeing the commercial for the Glade ones non stop while watching Top Chef. Thanks for the info.

I don't microwave, but I have heard that others like them. Anything that gets people to eat more veggies is a good thing!

I dunno.... I try and keep all plastic out of the microwave. It something must be nuked it gets nuked in glass. Plastic= not good.
Just my Humble Opinion :)

Use a tupperware container with about a tablespoon of water in it. Hit it on medium high for 20 seconds and leave the lid on for 2 minutes.
Zip N Steam bags are an embarrassingly wasteful product.

I think they are wasteful, personally... But if someone is not going to go to the trouble of steaming veggies otherwise, then they could be a good thing.
They are useless if you already have a steamer. I actually use the steamer that came with my magic bullet blender almost daily.

 I have some small Pyrex glass containers with lids, and I use those for all my microwave steaming. I wouldn't use plastic anyway, and the bags are a bit wasteful, IMO.
OTOH, the steamer bags may be useful in certain situations, such as if you want to steam veggies in the microwave at work (or school, if they have a microwave at school) and you don't want to carry glass containers around with you for that purpose.
