I have a friend who works at L'Oreal and one time she gave me some Maybelline cosmetics as gifts. I wasn't aware that L'Oreal tests on animals at that time. In case it happens again... How do I tell my friend that I'm against testing and therefore I don't want to use products that have been tested without offending her?? Thanks.

I wouldn't say anything unless she offers you some more .... and then thank her and say it's a really sweet gesture, but you don't use products which have been tested on animals.
I'm sure she'd much rather be told than waste what she sees as goodies, on somebody who won't use them.

Yeah just tell her the next time she offers them to you. I wouldn't imagine she would be annoyed or anything. She might not even be aware that the products are tested on animals.

Be prepared for an argument. She may insist her company doesn't test on animals, calling it a "completely clean company" like one of my friends did when she tried to give me her leftover samples. I got stuck talking with another rep from the same company about a year ago, and I told her I wasn't interested in supporting animal testing. She acted flabbergasted.
You may want to find a new cosmetics company off the list PETA has: http://www.caringconsumer.com/cosmetics_shoppingguide.asp They list a couple of companies in that link, but to get the whole booklet, you have to buy it. Oh, and there are several Arbonne reps on VB. You might want to find out if any of them are in your area. :)

I would just say what you said to us. Most people know what "tested on animals" means and I don't see the big deal in just saying "No, thanks. I use cruelty-free cosmetics." You can't help if someone else feels offended by that, but I wouldn't think it would matter much to her either way.
