View Full Version : Labels that mislead

I was just wondering why some products that HAVE NOT been tested on animals DON'T have a label that says so and vice versa. For example, Nivea does not test on animals but I can't find anything on my sunblock lotion that says so. Meanwhile, Alberto-Culver does but there's a label on my straightening gel that says no animal testing. This has been on my mind for a while now, and if anybody can answer my question that'll be great. Thanks.

There could be many reasons for this:
1) Maybe they aren't testing now but may do so in the future. This leaves their options open.
2) Maybe they don't want to get into the 'politics' of animal testing and just don't mention it on their labels
3) Maybe they have a set contract with their packaging suppliers and any changes to the packaging would cost them money
4) Maybe they have a huge backlog of product packaging that doesn't say 'not tested on animals' that they have to use up before using new packaging
5) Maybe they say they are not testing on animals but perhaps some of their suppliers are still testing on animals. By leaving the not tested on animals comments off of their products they protect themselves from lawsuits.
