Does anyone know of a good cruelty-free clarifying shampoo that will get rid of product build-up and oil?

Try Nature's Gate Rainwater Clarifying Shampoo. It's amazing. My only recommendation though is not to use it every day as it can dry your hair too much. You may even want to use it every other or once every three days.

rinse your hair with a vinegar wash once a week. :) it smells to high heaven but it works really really well.

I was about to post what Libellula said, only not once a week. I'd say once a month for my hair (I don't use much "product" though). A rinse in white vinegar beats all. Rinse it out well and no smell is left. I hate to sound boastful but I do have the sort of hair that random strangers in the street compliment, I must be doing something right.

I also like to mix baking soda with my shampoo once a week.

Ditto. Use warm apple cider vinegar, then wash your hair with your normal shampoo
