Some how I can give up meat and diary with in a 3 month time span, but i can't bring my self to get up and exercise in the morning. i know I should, but when I wake up groggy/sleepy, exercise seems like the last thing I need. I was thinking maybe there are some facts that could get me out of bed. Kind of like how I know of all the hormones and crap that's in meat or the enviromental problems eating meat causes which helped me to stop eating animals. Any kind of visual or metaphors really help.

If it's really that bad, why don't you exercise at a different time of day, when you do feel like it? For me, I don't really like exercise very much and so I have to make it as painless as possible by doing everything I can to make it fit more easily into my life. That way I'm far more likely to do it.

I agree with Black Heart. Exercise when you feel like it. I happen to be the opposite. I like exercising in the morning. Not as soon as I get up, but maybe an hour afterward (I get up around 5 a.m. so it works for me). If for some reason I have a bad night sleeping and I don't fit my exercise in the a.m., I usually end up not exercising at all because I'm not motivated later in the day.
So see if there is a better time for you to fit in a routine.

Developing an exercise routine gradually might help. First, exercise once a week or every few days, then as you get used to that, gently increase the frequency. My bottom line for exercise is that I should WANT to do it, not feel like I HAVE to do it. Good luck! :nana:

If I don't exercise in the morning, most of the time it won't get done, especially if it's a school day. I normally go to the gym on weekdays, but I depend on my momma. It's the days when she sick (plus weekends) and I have no one to help push me that I need motivation to exercise.

Don't worry about it, I couldn't face exercise when I first get up either. My routine begins at about 11pm - 1am in the morning. Just go with what suits you. :)

What kind of exercise are we talking about...if its a trip to the gym first thing in the morning...iiiihhhhhh...go for a walk outside, jog, swim, walk up and down stairs, do some stretching while watching the morning news...me personally I do some stuff in the morning but also in the evening usually late because its quiet and there is nobody around to bug me... pick your own time...do something you like to do...it will make the time speed by...
If you still need a mental kick...just think heart attack...or if your into car analogies think car in a junk yard...your body is a machine like any other...if you don't keep it in good working order it will begin to break down...parts not used won't rust but they will atrophy and then have to work overtime to work properly at all...
Anyway good morning...

I used to try exercising in the morning, but it so didn't work for me. I've found that right after school is the best time for me. (plus the gym is pretty empty-ish) but when I used to try to get up in the morning, I found rolling myself out of bed before I had the chance to think up excuses worked pretty well. Or just bargaining with myself "ok, self, just get out of bed, brush your teeth, wash your face and have a glass of water then if you still want to go back to bed, you can." since the part where I had to get out of my nice warm blankets was the hardest part, once I was up it was easier to get going. Yeah, something like playing a practical joke on yourself everyday but still falling for it.

The best athletic results usually occur in the afternoon. I like to exercise in the late afternoon/early evening. Try a different routine, sugar bunch. :)

I know how you feel, the motivation issue for me is to "just do it" cause if I give it too much thought Im gonna end up not doing it at all. hehe

Same here. I can't believe how good I am at finding excuses, so I have to start before the whole "escaping" process begins :juggle:

Sometimes I start exercising when I don't feel like it at all, and within 5 minutes I'm feeling great. There may be some magical biochemical processes at work... :bobo:

Same here... I wake up at 6:30 and I start exercising around 8:15 (after dropping of my wife to her job and going to the gym)

Well, if you have a mate, morning sex is a great exercise to get the day started.

I don't know about that, it always makes me want to go to sleep afterwards :)

Well, if you can only work out in a gym (can you run around your neighborhood?) and you can ONLY go in the morning, how about visualizing yourself after your workout and how great you feel? Or visualize a roll around your belly if you don't get out of bed. :p

i always visualize how snug my pants will feel if i am not eating healthily and enough, and exercising regularly.
