Does anyone here do pilates??
I just signed up for a pilates class to help build up some muscle and maybe help me put on some weight.
I'm not entirely sure what to expect; is it anything like yoga?

I'm a pilate fan. I have a dvd that I use with a resistance band for some of the exercises. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about yoga...I'm thinking about giving it a try though...so I can't really compare the two. I like the pilates for the stretching benefit it provides. And the resistance band helps tone my muscles. It's low impact which is great for me.

I've done pilates before but I do yoga every day. Pilates i fast paced but I didn't feel like it did much for me. Yoga involves the deep long stretching and the slow flowing strength moves that really tones your muscles. I feel like pilates was like... ok one! two! three! feel those abs. come on! 3 more! I don't know... it just wasn't for me. You may like it though..

Hmmm.. thanks. I've done yoga and really liked it; i wanted to get back into it but then a friend of mine suggested itry pilates, but didn't really explain it to me. i'll go to the first class and see what i think. I have no muscle tone..i'm practically skin and bone which isn't good so i need to build up muscle.
