Well, I wore a white bra with a black shirt on a hot day (dumb) and now I have dark gray spots on it that won't come out with regular laundry detergent. Would a stain remover like Ecover help? Any suggestions?

I've had good luck with a bucket of hot water and lemon juice and letting it soak into my white clothes to remove grey-ness and then washing. I use ecover and ecover bleach alternative after the lemon soak and that helps.

Cool. Thank you. I'll give that a shot.

Vinegar works wonders for pretty much everything around the house, especially laundry (http://www.vinegartips.com/laundry/).

No way...this is cool! I was never very good in the laundry department.

I keep an old tooth brush above the washer. When I have some sort of stain, I pour a little detergent (or make a paste if you use powder) and scrub with the tooth brush. Leave it overnight. It works 95% of the time for me anyway.

Ditto on white vinegar!
