I'm starting college in less than 2 weeks... and well I want to make the best first impressions I can. I want to get my teeth a little whiter. They're not very yellow or anything, but they can be better.

My question is if the ingredients in these over-the-counter strips/trays are vegan. Also, are companies that make them cruelty free?

I've e-mailed a few companies but have had no replies. I also searched around the web but haven't found very much.

I try not to buy anything from Crest, Colgate, Aquafresh, or any of the other huge, mainstream companies because they are not cruelty free. I don't know about the ingredients in many of these products, but the companies do test on animals.

I have found the easiest way to find cruelty free products is to check your local health food store or co-op. You could always make a paste with baking soda and peroxide and brush with that for a few days. Add some peppermint oil or some of your regular toothpaste to it for the freshening effect.

Buy a bottle of peroxide. Add a little bit to your tooth swishing/mouthwash cup. Mix with a little water. Swish for about a minute. Brush teeth. Add a little more to the cup and mix with mouthwash. Swish for about a minute.
