hollywoodveg, re self-foaming pumps "You end up using a tenth of what you do with liquid soaps."
Yea, if you wash your hands with the same frequency, as you did when you had a liquid-only pump. But with the foamers, you end up pumping just to see the foam and play with it, even if you don't need to wash. So it can get rather wasteful. It isn't just the little children around here that pump for the sake of pumping. It is me, also.

Have any of you tried their cleaning specific formula with sodium laureth sulfate in it? Is it fantastic for scrubbing or unnecessary?

Why would we want to use something with SLS in it? I'm confused.

SLS has a bad reputation due to marketing gimmicks imo. I wrote something on it a while back:
http://greenmarmalade.wordpress.com/2008/03/21/sodium-lauryl-sulfate-need-more-facts/
Those are my thoughts... I avoid buying EVERYTHING with it in it, but see no issue when it is used properly. I trust that this brand would use it properly... so if their cleaning specific solution works great I'd pick it up. Just curious if anyone has used it yet and if so, how'd it do?

I haven't used the cleaning-specific formula yet, but only because I don't see the need. We bought a gallon of the peppermint about 18 months ago and have been using it, cut with water and white vinegar at different strengths, to clean pretty much everything in the house (including glass and scummy tiles). I would say that the gallon jug will last us another 3-4 months-- well worth the $35!

I don't dilute Dr. Bronner's. :worried:
It's the only thing we use for hand washing in the bathroom and a bottle of it is always in the shower.
I'm looking for a self foaming pump and will probably think of Soilman every time I use it once I have it. :)

You use soap as toothpaste!!!???? Wouldn't that taste really nasty? I didn't think soap was supposed to go in you mouth anyways

I fully support Dr. Bronner's! Peppermint is my favorite. The liquid soap works great for hand washing clothing, among its countless other uses.

Anytime I get a food, blood or baby related stain on my clothing or sheets, a little Dr. Bronner's, water and an old toothbrush gets it RIGHT out!

I should try it for cleaning out some of my stain on my clothes then! I always wanted to try the bar soap but was told that it was very drying to the skin.

some people use it by itself. you only need a few drops of it on the wet toothbrush. i've taken to brushing with a tiny amount of toothpaste and then finishing off with a few drops of the bronner's. it works pretty well.

Oh, it's highly concentrated soap you can even dilute it 1:10.

At a natural food co-op where I used to shop, one could buy Dr. Bronner's in bulk. Just take back the original bottle for a refill. Another + for the environment. I miss living close to this co-op. Many items were offered in bulk and refills were great!

Yeah, I know it's concentrated. I've been using it since I was a child. It's a local company that's in my area.
:D I prefer it as is.
I buy it wholesale by the gallon. I <3 Dr. Bronner's!

I've realized this stuff is awesome for shaving. Thought I'd share. My legs are super super smooth. Forget shaving gel heh.

I have been searching everywhere for a self-foaming pump and cannot find one. It looks like the only option is to buy the disposable kind already with soap in it and just refill it with Dr. Bonner's soap when it's empty. I really wanted a pretty dispenser to match my bathroom decor. :(

Oh, that's a really good idea though, never thought of that.
I got mine at organize.com, they are super nice. I'll try and find a link.

Huh, I went on organize.com it doesn't look like they sell it anymore, too bad.
At any rate, here is the model I have I like how it works a lot:

sorry to resurrect, but I'm curious if anyone has used this stuff for dish washing? If so, do you just use it straight, dilute it, add vinegar, anything like that?
I'm also curious about laundry... how does it fare there? Would adding some of the dr. bronners plus say, baking soda and boric acid or washing soda work? Anyone got a recipe or suggestion how to do that? I don't want to be mixing chemicals or ruin my clothes or something.
Additionally where do you buy your dr. bronners? I recall someone saying somewhere cheap to get it, but I forget and can't find it!

I've used it before to wash my hair. I was not diluting it and I would wonder why my hair was so squeaky. It's like it stripped all the moisture from it. Now I know that you're suppose to dilute it. LOL. It's a cool soap though. :)
That was my problem too...but even after I did Dilute it...I didnt care for it...Maybe because I have extremely sensitive skin and scalp...and it dried my hair out Big Time:)

Target is carrying it now, but it's a lot more expensive than I remember when I used to get it at our local co-op. I'm going to look for it there again...

i like the almond bronners. Love it! I can't use it in my hair because it is also too drying. But I dilute it for body wash and it is awesome for shaving.
I have never used it for much else. Tried brushing my teeth with it but the flavor was terrible. never do that again.
