OKay so I've been a vegetarian for 6 months and over the past couple week shave been eating more and more Vegan foods (today is my first totally vegan day, but that is irrelevant). It seems like the more food I eat that is vegan the less of it I can eat. Like before I stopped eating dairy I could eat a whole grilled cheese sandwich and still have room for a fruit or something, but when I use vegan ingredients for my grilled "cheese" I can barley finish half the sandwich and i'll be totally full. Then in about an 2 hours I'll be starving hungry again but the thought of food makes me sick, so i'm not eating as much as I should be in the day, I want to but I just can't do it. Did anyone else get this when they started eating more of a vegan diet?
Thanks.

This doesn't sound to me as if it has anything in particular to do with the foods being vegan. I've had those kinds of responses, but it was a side effect of other things I had going on medically and was not related to what I was eating. I eat more now that my food's mostly vegan than I had previously; but I suspect that's because it's also less calorie dense.

When I first became vegan that happened to me as well! I didn't have the same transition as you though, vegetarian ---> vegan, as after I learnt about animal cruelty etc I couldn't bring myself to go near anything with milk ingredients.
I think our bodies will crave the food we feed it. For example, when you first start eating something, your body doesn't recognize, you might not realize how much you like it until your body starts sending you signals that it wants more. I used to loathe tofu and only ate it to appease my family... I would literally be dry heaving at the thought of eating it whilst eating (haha sick I know).. today though, I absolutely love it (and crave it).
I think it depends on the types of food you are eating. I know for a fact that if I eat too many chickpeas in a day I feel vomitous and sick at the thought of putting food in my mouth. I think that these things are completely mental though and have no real, deeper meaning.
When I made the transition from cheese to soy cheese I noticed I couldn't eat as much anymore and I don't particularly get a yen for it either.
Hope my rambling helped or gave you some thoughts?

These vegan foods you are eating... are they all made with soy? Is the 'cheese' on your sandwhich soy? Maybe it could be that you are having an allergic reaction to the soy or that you have trouble digesting it. I feel ill sometimes when I eat more than a small portion of soy in one sitting ... and I cannot tolorate soy milk at all (because of a medical condition). Now I've learned what kinds of soy I can eat and what brands because some affect me more than others.

Not sure why, but I get the same way, only it started happening in the past couple of months but I've been a vegan for a while longer than that. I also get really bloated and have a lot of digestive issues recently. It sucks. :(
None of what I said has been helpful but I thought I would share and let you know you're not alone. I'm having A LOT of trouble eating the calories I'm suppose to because I never have an appetite, and when I do eat I'm usually forcing myself. :|
