Does anyone know if Vans "Classic" shoes are without leather? Like this: http://shop.vans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product2_10001_10150_10101_302616_-1

I saw them in a store, and it looks like they have a leather band of some sort around the inside, but I can't tell if it's synthetic or what. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

For some reason I can't open the link, but try www.zappos.com. They have a vegetarian section, so if it's veg it'll be there. :D Hope that helps.

I'm almost certain it is rubber, not leather.
I have had a couple of pairs of vans and neither had any leather on them (but that was years ago, so I'd double check to be sure.)

Oh, that did help! They're in the vegetarian section at Zappos. Hmm... I guess I should have bought them... I ended up getting my third pair of Converse instead. :p Oh well, another time.

I think its plastic round the side. It doesnt smell like leather and when I buy shoes I always check the little sticker inside that tells you what they're made of and I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a combination upper. It would have made sure to tell people if there was leather on the shoe.
If you still are unsure then geoff rowley vans always have a vegan version (i think he might be vegan or something) They're not like the slip on they're more of a skate shoe.

yeah, i checked today and it only said canvas upper, so i don't really know. your best bet is simply emailing or calling the company, it'll save you time and energy getting the info straight from the people who make them.

I think converse are made from adidas or something like that? and they use slave labor overseas.

I HIGHLY reccomend rocketdog shoes if you like converse, theyre much more comfortable, cute, and if they get dirty you can wash them in your washing machine and they dry within an hour, most of their shoes are vegan too(i think theres only like 2 ugly pairs that arn't)

spaz, converse were bought over by nike, which is known for their slave labor use. i hope that clears something up. :)
