I was up late Wednesday packing and we left Thursday morning.
We drove about 12 hours, then spent the night in Oklahoma City. My middle son was born there...so he got to see his "baby home" It was sentimental and nice.

We continued on our journey...
We made a pit stop in Effingham, Illinois after thoroughly making fun of it...and what people in f - ing ham might do to pigs, or ham or...who knows. Well, Effingham took its revenge by making me lock my keys INSIDE my car. Of course it was at 10:30 at night...
yet a nice locksmith opened my door for only $30.

We drove a few more hours...kids were sleeping. I pulled in a rest stop to catch a few winks and due to the stress and the floodlights, I left my lights on. Of course, two hours later the car wouldn't start. I tried to cry, but I simply had no tears. I had officially "lost it" My oldest son was my hero and told me he would get someone to jump us off...he did. In what seemed like 60 seconds...there was a nice man hooking cables to our car!

Just a bit later, we arrived at our hotel, everyone showered and we headed to camp. We said our good byes and then my little son and I went back to the hotel and slept. He said he wasn't sleepy but I could take a nap while he watched cartoons beside me. I woke up a drawing on my pillow and him asleep beside me.
We had a lovely week together.

On Saturday, I picked up the older kids from camp (they were tired and happy) and we began our terrible drive home. We made it to Tulsa. Yesterday we drove from Tulsa home. The kids watched Lilo and Stitch so many times, I think I have it memorized...and candy became a side dish to every meal...but, we are home!

Oh, just for fun my CHECK ENGINE light came on just 15 minutes from home. Umm...check engine for what?!?!

happy you had a safe trip.. welcome home..

check engine alot of the time turns out to be oxygen sensors or other vacuum problem.. some cars have a preplanned mile mark that turns it on and when you take it to the dealer they just simply turn it off while charging you.. (unless you are under warranty)

That trip sounds wonderful. :D

My check engine light came on when my timing belt broke and my car wouldn't go. Haha.

My timing chain broke and my check engine light did NOT come on. However, it does come on when I'm trying to go up a steep hill, then goes off as soon as I'm on level ground.

I'm glad you made it home safe despite all the problems.
