Hooray -- a nice, clean slate. :)
Today marked the end of Week One of my marathon training, and I hit almost all of my goals. Swam on Monday, ran and lifted weights on Tuesday, took Wednesday off, ran and lifted weights on Thursday, ran on Friday, biked on Saturday, and ran today. The only thing I missed was my short bike ride this week to focus on hill work, but I'll try to incorporate that this week.
With that brought into the fold, this week will look much the same as last week -- only with slightly longer runs and swims and bike rides. :)
How's everybody else doing? Go, Hamsters, go!! :vebo:

I posted yesterday, about 2 seconds before the old thread got closed. So I'll repost that, and today.
Yesterday (Sat) I biked for a little more than 6 miles, and ran about 4 miles in 70 minutes.
Today (Sun) I did a 4 mile run but I'm not sure of the timing because I left the watch (pardon, chronometer :) ) at home.
I'm hoping the rain will stay away, though it's supposed to rain every day this week. :(
I'm gonna have to break down and join a health club.
Way to go hopi!!!!! :hamster:

I haven't been posting too much lately. Anyhow, yesterday I rode my bike to/from work, ran for 3 miles and did some weight lifting.
Today I'll probably go for a run and do a little bit of rollerblading.

Now that the wedding stuff is through, I have energy left for exercise again :D ... I ran Addie for about 3 miles this morning. She had plenty of post-fireworks jitters to burn off.

Congrats on the wedding Jinga! :)
I had a good hamster day today.
8.1 miles biking
4 miles running.
I biked 4 miles a day each day this past week which equals 20 miles for the week, and I walked 2 miles each day at lunch so that's 10 miles walking too for the week.
Totals for last Sunday to today (Sat):
28 miles biking
12 miles running
10 miles walking.
My running's dropped some distance-wise since I've started biking to work and back. I'm trying to push the running back up slowly.
I'll probably rest tomorrow and start up again Monday.

I'm getting tired of feeling so sluggish and out-of-shape, so I'm going back to the gym today for the first time in about 5 weeks. I have mono, so I'm either sleeping or eating. Exercising hasn't really been an option. :p And it's only an option now because I think I'll go insane if I don't start working out now. :D

Oooh, mono -- feel better soon, Janie!! When I had mono, I lived on popsicles and Propel water. :) You're much tougher than I am -- the very thought of working out when I was sick sent me back to the sofa. (Or a walk-in closet. I did actually fall asleep in one once in my mono days, when I was organizing storage boxes. :))
Anyway, feel better, and good luck with the workouts!! :vebo:

well.. I did some Para-Para dancing for about 1/2 an hour today. Then, I took two cans of beans and did some light weight bouncing about and worked my legs and arms more. I'm feeling empowered.

Good for you, GanyGreenBean! :vebo:
Week Two of my marathon training came to a close yesterday, and I managed to fit everything in except for a short bike ride (focusing on hill work) and a nine-miler over the weekend. I feel sad that I missed the nine-miler, but the temperatures were skyrocketing even by the early morning on Sunday and I just didn't want to tempt fate by running too far away from home. I'm back on the wagon today, though.
This week, I've got two three-milers, a five-miler, and a six-miler on the run; a short bike ride (93 minutes) with hill work and a long bike ride (2+ hours) over the weekend; and two swims, one 70 minutes and the other 30. I got the 70-minute swim out of the way this morning.
Go, Hamsters, go! :)

I had a bad week, hamster-wise this week. I had a headache that lasted from last Sunday evening to this past Thursday evening.
For what it's worth, here's my week totals:
Walking: Around 7 miles
Biking: 29.3 miles (see below)
Running: 0 miles
My biking total is as high as it is because of today (Sat, 7/14). I rode 17.3 miles today, and did a lot of hill climbs.
It was a good workout. Come to find out, if I'd gone a little further I'd have run into the lake! I wish I'd have pressed on a little more but I was concerned about getting back home okay since I knew that I'd be facing those hills in reverse again.
Well, you gotta do what you can right? :)

Thanks for the congrats, Brandon. :D
... and Janie I hope you recover from your mono soon!
I can't even remember last week, but this week I ran 3miles Monday and 3miles this morning. Sunday we took the dogs for a hike in the park. It was wooded, hilly, and windy. We all had fun. I've also been on the job site for part of the day the past two days. It's not exactly a workout, but I'm standing, walking, and climbing instead of my usual sitting :p

Last Friday I ran 6 miles, which was cool. It was the first time I've run that long in a while. :D I ran 3 miles on Monday and Tuesday evening.
On & off lightning storms this week, so not too much bike commuting :(

Ok, I am a total newbie at really 'working out'.....I'm an active person, but usually more along the lines of housework, yardwork, and caring for those not capable of caring for themselves. While all these things are a workout of sorts, I'm not getting any younger, and would like to start a more 'regimented' workout. Tomorrow, payday, I am buying a bike(nothing fancy), and am giving up my vehicle to walk/ bike to work, and other necessary places that are not too far away. My massage office is only 1 mile from home, so that'll be a couple miles a day. Grocery store is 1 mile, daughters school 1 mile, etc. My weekend job is 6 miles away, may have to work up to that one!!!
I am simply posting my intentions, and will check back in after getting the bike tomorrow......excited, but incredibly nervous too.....
Newbies can post here can't they??:surprised

Hooray for riding your bike to work!! I bike/take the train to work every day. It's a nice way to get some exercising in and much less stressful than driving (at least for me). Once you get used to being on your bike, the 6 mile ride on the weekends will seem like no big deal. I used to bike 12 miles to and from work until I moved :) Just make sure you get yourself a helmet and a blinkie light incase you get stuck out after dark (good for the fall/winter). Let us know how it goes!!!!!!!!

So I've been really bad about running lately and the only exercise I've been getting is my bike ride to/from work. Well, I'm finally getting back into it. I went for a 3 mile run on Sunday evening and another yesterday evening. I really didn't want to go last night but made myself and felt much better for it :) I plan on going for another run tomorrow after work :hamster:

Hey, Hamsters! It's been awhile since I've posted in this thread, but I've been training, I promise. :)
Got my last tri of the season this weekend, and I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be a 1K lake swim, a 17.5-mile bike, and a 3.3-mile run. This week I'm tapering downward to let my body rest, but next week I'll be back on track and focusing on marathon training! It'll be nice to do something a little more "focused" for a while ... triathlons always seem scattered to me, even though I love them. :)

Hey, good job Harper, and Hopi!!!
My bike purchasing was put off till yesterday, got a decent bike for about 140.00 total. I didn't want to get too fancy for the first one, haven't ridden a bike since childhood. (ironically, my car refused to start in the store parking lot, had to be towed, so my 1st test at riding was home from the store). Damn cars anyway!
Now, my house is approximately 2 miles from the store, but half of that was uphill, not great for my 1st ride!! Did make it up the hill, (it was a funny sight I'm sure), and home without walking it, but am feeling the fruits of my labor today....what a wimp!
I will not ride today, but go and get a massage, then ride again tomorrow. Maybe to the same store and back, and see if it gets any easier.
thanks for listening.
