I went vegetarian last year and lost 47 pounds, unfortunately gained 19 of them back. :(

I'm just now hitting menopause--literally--my periods stopped a month ago-- and it seems like overnight even though I eat mostly decently I can't seem to lose a pound, and worse, I have started bingeing. My schedule has changed at work and I don't get home until 2000 at night and don't eat dinner until around 2200 (ridiculous!).

Is there any advice you can give me? I'm pretty depressed right now, I don't want to go back to where I was, I was obese for my entire life. Incidentally I try to be as vegan as possible when not at home -- husband is lacto/ovo, and he's the chef. (He's trying to market a new set of designer fake meats -- any potential investors out there? They have vitamins and amino acids and everything in them.)

Thanks in advance,

f

I don't have any personal advice to give as I haven't reached that stage yet. But I found this article that may be helpful.

BTW, if that is a current pic of you in your avatar, I think you look great!

If your periods stopped a month ago you are not really "in menopause" yet - you are what is considered premenopausal and they may return sporadically for several years as your hormones fluctuate and things "settle down". Actual full-blown menopause is most likely a year or two down the road.
