Is it safe to assume that if a shoe is listed as being all "man made materials" it is all synthetic? I would figure that this is what it means, but I hate to just assume.

I've never heard of man made materials being from an animal, so I think you're safe. (-:

haha I guess more what I meant was is this labeling usually fairly accurate
I understand the concept of man made :p just not sure how often this means the entire shoe, not just part of the shoe

Have a look at the label that tells you what its made of, it should have a symbol for 'upper' 'inner' and 'sole' these should then be labelled with the shape of a cows skin for leather, a woven square for textile and a diamond shape for other (often rubber). If it has it written 'all man made fibres' it probably won't be made of leather, companys normally want to boast about leather on their shoes (I work in a shoe shop so I know its a selling point) They will point out even the smallest bit of suede on a motif on a shoe and call it combination upper leather/textile.

I think it's possible that any glue used in the shoe is not vegan.

I've always wondered if human skin could be classified as "man made materials." :stinkeye:
