so i went to an organic grocery store today and picked up some "vegan rella" mozzarella flavoured "cheese". i was considering freezing it in portions so that it lasts longer as the store is kind of far away.
has anyone tried freezing then thawing this cheese and if so was it still ok once it was thawed?

I never froze vegan rella...I did freeze vegan gourmet cheddar...that did not work out well at all...

I haven't tried freezing that brand in particular, but I have frozen the follow your heart cheese. I always melt it, either on pizza or in a sauce so it was always fine. The texture does change and if you're not going to melt it and want to eat it plain or on a sandwich I'm not sure if it would work out that well.

I would finely shred it in burritos or a pizza or whatever and then put it in the freezer & then reheat when you want it.

thanks for the input. i do always use it melted, never just on it's own.
shredding then freezing it sounds like a great idea! :)

We tried freezing it and it became brittle and gritty.I wouldn't recommend it.It does stay good for quite a while in the fridge as long as it's unopened.

oh well, it's already done
i'll just have to wait and see how it comes out, if it's all crumbly i guess i could crumble it on something.
i had some of it on a pizza a few days ago and i wasn't super impressed anyways. i think i'm going to give up on vegan block cheeses for a while after this one is gone.
