Veggie gyros - Made by Viana

I ordered some shelf stable packages of veggie meat-like products from VeganEssentials.

We had the veggie gyros and they are fantastic! I put them on Arabic bread along with hummus, cucumber, tomato, and spicy lettuce from my garden. The gyros are probably just about the best 'fake' meat I have ever had. I remember the taste of 'real' gyros and I prefer these. Delicious!

I also ordered doner kebap and cevapcici. They are made by the same company. I can't wait to try them too.

I haven't had the gyros but I did try the "chicken" nuggets. They were kind of bland on their own but pretty good with vegan honey mustard dip (I made my own with a honey substitute, also ordered from Vegan Essentials :)).

I did wonder why it said they were shelf stable on the Vegan Essentials site, but the box said to keep refridgerated. The lack of refridgeration didn't seem to have done them any harm, though.

I noticed that too. My daughter said that when she was in Germany products like this were on the shelf. I checked it over very well and it seemed just like other shelf stable items.

I've seen them in the refrigerated section but never bought any. Has anyone tried their seitan?
