This is purely for my own curiosity's sake:

How many of you that are members of the Hamsters/Teddybears are runners exclusively? (or at least primarily, I do walk sometimes and enjoy cycling too)

I was thinking about my own exercise tendencies and was just curious as to how all of you approach your exercise...and how many of you run too!

I'll put a poll up so people can be anonymous if they want.
If you wanna speak up, I would love for you to.

FTR: I'm a vegan. I run almost 100% exclusively, but I do enjoy walking or cycling.

I picked "I'm vegan and I exercise but don't run/jog".

I'm vegetarian and I run. I usually do some cycling on weekday evenings but my main and preferred form of exercise is running.

I'm vegan and I jog.

I've run/jogged for nearly 20 years.

I run, but it's not my primary means. I use the elliptical trainer more than I use the treadmill.

I jog because it's so efficient - calorie burn, aerobic exercise, good-for-me bone pounding, and beautiful scenery along our lake - and I'm done in 50 minutes. I couldn't get to the gym and get them same quality of a workout in as little time. AND I don't feel compelled to put on makeup or worry if my shirt is wrinkled (which it probably is!).

Poppy, I agree totally with yoU. Have you found after running for 20 yrs you get problems with your knees & joints? Ive only been running for 10yrs and already experience problems.:-/

No - but I generally keep with the same distance and only very gradually do I make any changes to my route. I now jog for 4.5 miles and walk for a good warmup and cool down. I'm also fanatical about getting new running shoes every 3-4 months. I have heard that it makes a huge difference over the long run.

The only joint that bothers me is in my right hand!!!

Vegetarian and runner. But I also swim and cycle, so I guess I'm not a purist! :shy:

Sprint Master Pro when I exercise. I have been running around with Arthur Ritis. And he jest won't leave me alone. When the pain allows, I glide at 2 mph for now at 10 min. When the arthritis gets easier to live with, I will glide more.

I run quite often but also commute to work a few days a week by bicycle. I use my bike as a form of transportation, I don't usually try to go really hard on it, just try to get to where I'm going. I consider running my main form of exercise.
