I was out in my garden last night and noticed that one of my tomatoes, which have already been attacked by flea beetles and have holes in their leaves, had an alarmingly yellow leaf on the bottom. I reached down to pull it off and ended up snapping the entire plant off...what an idiot. I put it in a pot of dirt and I'm hoping it'll root before it dies. Anyway, any ideas on what caused the yellowing? Is there something I could be doing to my remaining plants to prevent it in them?

It could be a couple of things. Check where it "snapped" off. Are you sure that it wasn't cut by a cut worm. The saw right threw the stem and of course, ruin the plants. If it looks like it's one of those, you can put a toothpick on either side of the stems and the worm won't be able to get at the plant.

I have also had plants turn yellow from too much water. Is the soil too moist?

We had a huge storm the day before yesterday--maybe that was it? Thanks.
