I have been walking around the track at a local park for at least 30 min. Well at least yesterday I did ....Today I am planning on doing 20-30 minutes on the gazelle. I snack in the evening the rest of the day I am great but evening is my downfall. how is everybody else doing? Anybody have any good ideas about exercising with small children? I have some yoga kids dvds and helping the kids get into poses is quite a workout in itself. My 6 and 3 year olds seem to enjoy them. When they were small I used to get lots of exercise pushing a stroller doing laps at the park. If any of our Teddy Bears would like more info on ideas for exercising with little ones around I'll try and dig up some info. I know sometimes it is hard to find time to exercise maybe we can discuss ways to fit in a exercise routine or ways to get extra exercise through out the day. So if anyone has some good ideas to share that would be awesome!

Oh man... I just read the other thread and I'm so on board. I just need to get in shape- slowly but steadily. I just bought a yoga type mat yesterday so I can start with some good stretches and light weight stuff with and without my bouncy ball. I'll be adding in some regular dog walking, light gardening, and hopefully a little bike riding too :) (that's way off though I gotta flexible up first to protect my back and core)

I just finished my first day up off my good intentions. I spent 10 min. on my Sprint Master Pro which from now on shall be known as my glider. So 2 mph for 10 min. is much better than the nothing I have been doing. Thanks, Berrykat. This little group is just what I have needed and your timing was perfect.

Fluffy folks,
Yes, the timing was great. Day one went well. I usually make it to day 3 before I give up, so my goal is to make it to day 3, 10 times this month.

Good timing here, too. I got a chuckle out of "fluffy folks." :D
Yesterday I walked home from work. It's a mile and a half. Doing that means I had to walk to work this morning because I'd left my car in my employer's parking lot. I went to bed at 11:30 p.m. last night—progress!
So I walked to work this morning. I also walked to the grocery store to buy a salad from their salad bar for lunch. I think that's a half-mile round trip.
Tomorrow I'm going to a reunion of people from my high school days, and I know we'll be playing lots of outdoor games that involve running.

this weeks main goal was eating better. Lost 2lbs (but had gained three-so not a big net loss) don't know if numbers are forbidden here. I have also been trying to get my girls to the park in the AM so they will nap (whole other thread)
Next week's goal is to get out to exercise in the evenings after they are in bed. I am not sure how to get a 6mth old and 19mth old to contribute in exercise, except that the baby thinks videos are funny and the 19mth old is a mimic.
Neither is a stroller fan,so baby boot camp is out. so got a choo choo wagon on ebay and hope to start treking the mile and change to the big park in the afternoons. Yep, the little one can sit up! :)
Thanks for this thread. It is great.

Today was great. Took the dogs for a three mile bike ride (that's their max), then mowed the lawn...
And although I stopped twice for fast food (lunch and dinner), I decided against Taco Bell and went for Subway, all the veggies and no cheese.

Count me in. While I've lost the baby weight, I still need to lose pre-baby weight that I've struggled with since I was a teenager. My main goals with exercise will be to get 30 minutes of cardio at least 4 times a week and to work on my overall strength, particularly in my abdomen.
Diet wise, I will start focusing on eating breakfast everyday (I miss it at least half the time) and eating more fruit and vegetables.

Ohh, I'm on board. I could stand to be a little less... fluffy :)
I have been eating a little better over the past few days, but still not great.
I did go to a fantastic fitness class on Wed. morning that I want to try to hit every week, but unfortunately, I can't because of work.
It was called Cardio Dance. It was fantastic. Better than aerobics, and way more fun. It was latin based, which was a challenge since I've never done any latin anything, but all the funk, bellydance and african I've done has paid off since I was able to pick up the steps as well as all of the regulars in the class :)
I'm aiming for at least 2 days of cardio/weights/yoga at the gym a week, as well as at least one night of dancing. Since it's getting nicer out too I'll be able to do more walking and biking too.

Woo. I took Bear with me for a long walk this morning. The humidity is already at 94% so I'm glad we went when we did. We walked for about 40 minutes or so - at a good pace. I was surprised because it's been a while since I've gone and plus my shoes aren't so great.
I'm not sure what else I'll do today, but it will be inside stuff because it's gonna be so sticky and hot later. Maybe some yoga or some DDR.
We have total gym-like machine that I need get set back up and start using. I think rearranging everything in the family room to fit it in will be a good workout in itself. :)

I have exactly 30 pounds to lose in order to be at the right weight for my height, so I'm in!
I already walk the dog for at least 30 minutes a day, so I think I need to increase the intensity. So I've started running (very gradually...using couch to 5 k program...so today I ran for 60 minutes and then walked for a minute and a half). I also mowed my lawn (with my push blade mower that I absolutely adore) for 45 minutes.
I'm feeling good!
Now if only I could curb my ginormous appetite!

Today was a busy day. It was mother's day, so I went out with my sister and took her kids to the zoo, walked around everywhere. Then we went and picked up her dogs and took them to the park, walked them around and let them swim in the lake. Then I went home and took my dogs for a bike ride. Then I had my shift at the animal shelter cleaning kennels. My feet are killing me. I so need to go see a podiatrist now that I have health insurance; and go to one of those places where they create custom fitted shoes for you.
Diet wise I had a sub for breakfast, sub for lunch, and chili for dinner. Though I broke my No Food After 10 PM rule because the chili didn't finish cooking until 10:30. First home cooked meal I've had in a long time though so I felt okay breaking the rule. ; )

PS: Thursday is Ride Your Bike To Work Day. I was thinking I should try doing that more often now that I'm working days. The office is only 3 miles from my house (when I don't work from home). However, this Thursday I have to go to Indianapolis which is 130 miles away, so I don't think I'll ride my bike all that way. But I was thinking that the hostel I'm staying at is only 2 miles from the office so I might bring my bike along and then ride it those last 2 miles. That way I could even keep up with my bike daily goal.

I have yet to actually kick this into gear.
edit: I wasn't really okay with posting that. So I did some stretching and stuff... every little bit COUNTS!
Tomorrow I start a new habit. I'm going to do 10 minutes of exercise when I wake up. 10 minutes is easy. I'll do it first thing. I've cleaned my room so I don't have the clutter as an excuse. I've got my alarm set for 6:00 (I always wake up at 6, but I always let myself sleep in until 6:30. That stops now.

also, check out this blog I just discovered a couple days ago. It's pretty new, but it has a LOT of content. It's a "personal productivity" blog, with lots of tips for Getting Things Done (and lots of plugs for the book "Getting Things Done", If you're unfamiliar with this book, it's worth checking out). But he also has a LOT of great ideas for a healthy approach to making long-lasting changes in your life. And he's veg*n!!

I'm pretty seriously impressed by this guy. Check him out!

Yesterday I took my dog out for a 40 minute walk. It was a pretty leisurely walk, though...well, for me, anyway! He ran like a crazy thing and I ambled along.
I also spent an hour mowing my lawn with my new push reel mower. I love, love, love it! :smitten: It's great exercise, too.
Diet-wise, yesterday was pretty good. I cooked all three meals. Yay, me! I ate oatmeal for breakfast. Oatmeal for me is a huge production. I cook the oats with wheat germ, raisins, walnuts, blueberries, raspberries and cinnamon. Yum. Lunch was a thai-inspired peanut stir-fry on white rice with tofu and about 6 or 7 different veggies. Snack was a bowl of raisin bran with milk (I'm going to wean myself off milk, but I just don't know what else to eat on my cereal, as I really strongly dislike soymilk and rice milk). Supper was a barbecued portobello mushroom on whole wheat bun, a chickpea salad with tomatoes and cilantro and corn on the cob.
Wow, it actually sounds like quite an impressive day when I type it all out. The funny thing is I'm actually a pretty lame cook. But yesterday's meals all turned out fabulous.

I got up early this morning (not as early as planned, but earlier than usual :hamster: ) and ate a healthy breakfast (not like the cheesecake I had for breakfast yesterday), and EXERCISED (only for a few minutes, but MY GOODNESS what a difference that is from my usual routine)! I feel totally energized, and I barely did anything!
Now the trick is to do that every day, until it becomes HABIT. it's all about habits...

On Saturday, I ran around outside with my friends for so long that I got sunburned. Then I went to my parents' house, where I was planning to spend the night. My dad was starting to mow the lawn with this honkin' HUGE walk-behind mower. Where I live, I never get to do any outside work because there's very little to do, and my landlord does it. So I offered to mow my family's yard until dark. It certainly was a workout for my arms and legs because the mower requires a lot of "wrangling."
I cooked lots of food yesterday for my extended family, but I was more active than I generally am in a day, so that was good. Today, I brought my walking shoes to work with me so when I take a lunch break soon here, I can take at least a half-hour walk.

50 minutes playing and walking in the field with my dog. 20 minutes of that was alternating jogging for a minute with walking for a minute and a half.
Anyone who's having a hard time getting motivated to exercise should get a dog! It's impossible to be too lazy/tired/unmotivate to walk when you're getting the puppy dog eyes from a big hairy brute who depends on you for everything. Plus, I really really love him.

Today started out very lazy, sleeping in late and working from bed. But I kicked it into around 6pm... took my own dogs for a long bike ride with a stop at the river and let them swim and cool down. Then came back and took my foster dog on a shorter bike ride. I wasn't sure I'd be able to take him on the bike because he's a 100lb overweight stubborn rott who is known to just plop down and stop moving when he gets tired, but he wanted to go and he did great. It's funny how different it is riding with my labs who pull me most of the way, versus the rott who I pulled most of the way.
Diet wise was not so good. Overate on snack food. But I did stick to my rule, no food past 10pm, and that's really the only goal I'm worrying about for now.

I haven't been to the gym since wednesday :(
I've been running around a lot a work though, and I've been working crazy hours. I was going to go today, but I saw my man for the first time in about two weeks, so, I managed to get my heart rate up anyway.:o
