Forgive me if this thread already exists. I wasn't finding anything in a search ...

Have you discovered any home furnishing stores that go above and beyond to help (or at least not contribute to hurting) animals? The man and I have been searching for a leather-type chair for the family room, minus the actual leather of course. We were given the name of a St. Louis chain that intentionally stocks zero animal leather products, http://www.carolhouse.com/. I'd noticed in the past that they include adopt a stray messages in their TV ads, but upon visiting the store I noticed they even go so far as to provide Go Veg material at the front doors. This sort of thing isn't exactly a common thing in the Midwest, so I was especially intriqued.

Any other ideas for animal-friendly and/or environmentally friendly home stores?

Recommend you check out home furnishings upholstered in Ultrasuede. Ultrasuede is the original "cruelty free" upholstery product and is widely available in the united states. Website is www.ultrasuede.com. Parent company name is "Toray". There is a link on Ultrasuede website to locate a dealer near you or ask for Robert Steir in Marketing Dept - he is passionate advocate for cruelty free products. Room & Board carries eco-friendly product but not sure about "cruelty free. " Head office is in Minneapolis.
good luck and let me know how you do with your search.
