:( The crystal IS a deodorant, so the odor should be better. It's just not an anti-perspirant. There seems to be some question about the safety of aluminum based antiperspirants (which is like, all of them :( )

If you still feel wet after using the crystal (and it can take a bit of time to get used to feeling wet pits) powder with a bit of courflour (cornstarch) or arrowroot.

I can just imagine people looking in my cabinet....toothpaste, deodorant, band-aids, hair spray, cornflour :surprised

My bathroom is like the bloody kitchen---salt for my neti pot, cornflour for powdering and vegetable oil for body oil!

Hee. I have cornstarch in the bathroom too. It's good for keeping silicone things from getting cracks. :)

As for feeling wet...I put it on right after the shower, and by the time I'm getting dressed like 5 minutes later, it feels fine.

No I don't mean feeling wet at the time you put it on I mean if later on you sweat and you don't like the feel of wet pits you can powder after the crystal and then when you sweat later on it doesn't feel so wet.

Does that make sense?????

I don't know if hairy pits feel wetter than smooth. But in summer I like to powder as the tangle of hairs feels a bit damp (but doesn't seem to pong because of the crystal)

Thanks for the link, ain't that a bitch and here I thought Tom's was a good product. I guess this explains why they sell it at Walmart and stuff.

Well, it depends on how you look at it, I suppose. If the company's ethos stays the same, and they can use Colgate's marketing genius and connections to reach people who might not otherwise have come across Tom's...then maybe it's not a bad thing.

I have serious, serious doubts as to whether or not Colgate-Palmolive will honor the commitment to keep Tom's ethical policies in place, but that remains to be seen, I suppose.

Yeah that's true, if they stay true to what Tom's was all about it will be all good, I guess I'm just pessimistic about that happening too cause I'm sure Colgate will do what they can to cut costs and raise profits.

I've found a crystal deodorant called Henri Bernard. I didn't realize that the crystals were deodorant and not antiperspirant. I automatically thought that it if doesn't have a fragrance it would be antiperspirant. But I'll give it a try anyway, and let you all know what I think of it.

I just wanted to say that I just went and bought one of the crystals about a week ago at Walgreen's after reading everyone's experiences here with it.:sunny:

I have to say that so far I have been happy with it. It does indeed work, but there are a couple of things that have already been talked about here.
It was a bit of a different feeling for me, because you do have to wet the stone to apply and it does leave a wet feeling for a couple minutes after applying.

I did have a few days trying to get acclimated to the feeling of still sweating, although you don't have the body odor, because as others have posted the crystal is not an anti-perspirant.
But I've had not burning or itching like with other more mainstream deodorants, and I've applied the Crystal right after shaving and not had any problems.

All in all I would recommend it to anyone looking for a more safe alternative.
It *does* work and if it lasts even for 6 months (it states is can last up to a year of daily use), it will more than pay for itself. I only paid 5.99. It also states on the bottle that it is "Endorsed by Cancer Treatment Centers".

Thanks to everyone here who posted about it!:D

I use Thai crystal Deodorant, it lasts for over a year, got it on ebay and works on foot odor too! Its chemical free so it should in theory be safe!

this is the best deodorant i've ever used:

www.florere.com

i don't think it's at whole foods though - i never had any luck with any of their deodorants, esp. Toms and the crystal thingie.

Whatever you do, don't get Tom's of Maine deodorant, that stuff smells like urine!

Mine smells fine, though I might get a different scent than the apricot as sometimes I'm not sure if it's me or the deoderant. Maybe try the lavendar.
