My husband just went ovo-lacto veg on January 1 & the one thing he says he misses is sandwiches made with lunchmeat. He doesn't have time to make complicated veggie sandwiches (avocado, sprouts, etc.) at work, so we're looking for a good lunchmeat alternative. Has anyone found a sliced "turkey" or "salami" product that is palatable?
thanks for your time.

Yves salami is nice. Tofurkey sliced smoked "turkey" is pretty good too.
You probably won't pile it on as you might have before, so add some sliced tomato, pickles, lettuce, etc. to make a nice sandwich.

I had such a bad experience the one time I tried Yves turkey that I haven't tried any others since. I really should, since I've only been veg a couple of months, and I know I'm going to get sick of taking PBJ to work if I keep doing it 3+ times per week.

I think the Yves products taste like chemicals. BLECCHHH... :spew:
The redwood products aren't available in th US so I have no opinion on them.
There are some frozen "Worthington" brand lunch slices that are not similar to lunch meats in taste or texture but still pretty tasty.
Last but not least: Tofurky. I LOVE this stuff! All the "used-to-be-omnis" that I know have tried it and love it! Give it a chance - it's GOOD!

The "Smart Deli" turkey is pretty good, imo. I'm not sure about the salami, as I was never a fan of the real thing. :)
I like Tofurky as well.
If he tries it plain, it might be a bit unusual tasting, but remember that it's going to be mixed in with bread and mustard and what have you. :)
