I was at the La Sierra Health Store in Riverside, CA yesterday and came across Vegan Shrimp. I picked it up and looked at it, but put it back. I was weirded out by it. I searched online, but couldn't figure out what brand it was. Has anyone ever tried this stuff? Sounds REALLY weird, but if it's good, I'll give it a try. Thank you!

Sounds scary!!!! But I don't tend to like most fake meat anyway..... good luck with that though ;-) I never liked shrimp to begin with unless it was deep fried and dipped in tartar sauce - which means I really just liked the deep fry coating and the tartar sauce, hehe. I suppose I could do that with tofu!

The Vegan Shrimp was more like the shrimp cocktail style.
I'm a waitress and my last customer yesterday ordered the Shrimp and Chips. I wanted it so bad. I miss the cocktail sauce and breading too! I know there are some veggie recipes out there, just got to find a good one!
If I try it, I'll let you know how it tastes.

I love vegan shrimp. I buy it in Scarborough ON when I'm there. I have never eaten a real shrimp though.

Yes! Check out the "Cali's Tofu Fish" recipe I posted in Eliya's "FISH??? - also Veganism???" thread today, right in this Vegan Discussion forum.

What exactly, is in vegan shrimp? I've never been a fake seafood fan, but this is something I would like to try.

The picture on the box looks similar to a real shrimp... now I'm really curious. I'm going to try it :)
I've had real shrimp many times before I went veg.

I'm going to possibly go and buy some today. If so, I'll let you know whats in it. It looked similar to real shrimp (the cocktail kind). I scanned the ingredients very briefly and they weren't familiar things...
