I keep saying that I need to start exercising more regularly. In that vain, I finally pulled out my rollerblades this weekend for the first time in about two years. It was a nice 70 degree Florida winter day - not too hot to be outside like most of the year, and not too cool to be out in shorts skating.
I even made a point of stretching out first. I figured I'd get a nice workout, and I could follow up by starting to do this on a regular basis again.
Back when they first put the speed bumps in my neighborhood a couple of years ago, I was rollerblading regularly, and there was no easy way to get around them if I wanted to keep skating in my neighborhood, so I learned how to jump them. Unfortunately, I'm out of practice.
I was out there less than 2 minutes when I tried to jump one of them for the first time and went down hard. Usually, wiping out doesn't hurt, because I wear wrist pads and fall backwards, so I just put my hands down to absorb the fall. This time, I went down face first. My elbow and knee (with no pads on) scraped the ground, painfully. Needless to say, I went straight home to wash the blood off, put on some medication and cover it in band-aids.
Now, a day later, my upper arm around my shoulder is sore, and I know it's from the fall, because I didn't do any arm exercises or anything. So much for starting to exercise regularly. I'm going to probably need a week off to recover. :(
