I am new to veg*nism, and have (what I consider to be a major) problem: I can't stand raw vegitables. Now, cooked vegitables are no problem as there are very few I don't like, but I can't eat a salad without literally gagging. Similarly, I love everything a tomato makes (maranra, ketchup, tomato soup, etc) but gag if a raw slice of tomato enters my mouth. I would love to be able to eat raw vegitables, and am trying to acquire a taste, but so far I am having little luck.

Has anyone else here had this problem, and how did you learn to like raw veggies? It may seem silly, but this really is a problem I would love to overcome.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you don't like raw veggies, you just don't. I've always hated raw tomatoes, and I really doubt that will ever change. I'm not a big salad fan either (well not since I gave up meat and cheese haha). I don't know what's wrong with just cooking your veggies. You didn't ever eat your meat raw did you? :p

If you really want to learn to like something raw, just keep trying it, or maybe drench it in something to cover up the taste, like celery with lots of peanut butter or dip. Why is this a problem? It would only be a problem for me at work if the cafeteria, but sometimes there's pasta or soup I can eat.

I don't eat many raw veggies myself; I'm not big on salads. I like filling, cooked meals with lots of flavor - pasta dishes, stir fries, Mexican food, etc. There's no reason why a veg*n would need to be eating any more raw vegetables than anyone else. Enjoy your cooked veggies!

try them with dips like hummus. They might taste better to you that way. I got over my hatred of raw tomotoes by just eating them LOTS, and now I love them. But there's no reason you should have to do this, like others have said.

I usualy have my vegetables cooked too, so good :)
And I don't plan on changing my tastes in that situation, I don't think it's really bad , I know about the loss of nutrients... but really I don't care maybe you can too

Or maybe you could try dips

I also hate most raw vegetable, which raises a few eyebrows when I'm out and turn down the salad (I'm supposed to love salad since I'm veggie :surprised )

I've never overcome it, I don't like them so I don't eat them. I don't force them down because I feel obligated.
