FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The school board in this suburb south of Seattle has restricted showings of Al Gore's movie on global warming, including requiring that it be balanced with an adequate opposing viewpoint.
The board also required Superintendent Tom Murphy to approve when the former vice president's film, "An Inconvenient Truth," can be presented.
The decision was sparked by complaints from parents who said their children were taking the film as fact after viewing it at school.
"Condoms don't belong in school, and neither does Al Gore. He's not a schoolteacher," said Frosty Hardison, a parent of seven children who doesn't want the film shown at all.

This article is funny. First, that someone named, "Frosty" is against condoms (and also against hot sex?). Second, same person, Frosty talks about how in the end times everything will burn up. Looking forward to that, Frosty?
Lastly, when frosty says,
"The information that's being presented is a very cockeyed view of what the truth is," Hardison told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn't in the DVD."does she/he mean that one cockeyed view should be balanced with another cockeyed view?

Maybe Frosty has been too busy making babies to listen to a weather report!:sealed:
I just got the DVD in the mail from Netflix. My family will watch it together this weekend.

That sucks. Co-incidentally I had just saw it at school. :D That movie is more "fact" than opinion, so there is not much of an opposing viewpoint.
And in the bible things will not simply "burn up" at the end times. The book of Revalations states many more events than just "burning up". If someone wants to write an article, they should get their facts straight.

What a joke.
The difference between family planning in schools and climate change is that one is a moral question (BC or not) the other is scientific knowledge.
I don't care what the reason is for refusing to show this film, I have to live on Earth in the meantime and I don't want to see it all go down the tubes because we refuse to accept the 'Inconvenient Truth' about climate change.

Merged threads.
I find it funny that he says that the Bible talks about the Earth "burning up". In many years, wouldn't that actually be the result of global warming? :p Really though, there's no reason to mention the "end times" at all...the film doesn't say that the Biblical version can't happen, it's just doesn't mention it at all, because that's not what the film is about.
I really wonder if this is just one or two vocal parents causing the stink.
