White Rain is made by Huish Detergents Inc. They are a private company and they make laundry detergents like Ultra.

I used to use White Rain in the 80's - real good at getting out all that mousee!

I can't stand the smell of it anymore - too many chemicals for me.

I like Paul Mitchell and Aveda. Both lines are mostly vegan.

i just tried the alba leave in conditioner that i got from this vegan place... i'm not really all that impressed with it, but i've only used it once... it smells nice though!

I was shocked to see this, but apparently White Rain products are vegan and untested! http://www.whiterain.com/qna.asp I tried emailing them to make sure of this, but the email came back as unsendable, so they must have changed their email or something. But yeah, according to their Q+A they don't use animal products/don't test.

That is good!!!! I had no clue I just kinda assumed they used animal products/tested on animals... white rain is pretty cheap too.

The vegan shampoos I have tried don't work with my oily hair.. they actually have made it worse so when I run out I'm going to try some :D

Citréshine is cruelty free, and it smells really nice and works well. I'm not sure if it's vegan, though.

The old, old formula (2 formulas/bottles ago) was awesome. Then they changed it. And changed it again. And both of the changes sucked. It smells good, though. I wonder if I could find some of the super old ones somewhere online..and I wonder how long their shelf life is. Cuz i'd totally try to use it.

Garnett: I'll get all my junk together & find out how much shipping would be and see if it's worth it to ship.

Since when does "cruelty free" not include "vegan?" :stinkeye:

It should, but I think there are a few brands that tout "cruelty free" as a synonym for no animal testing.

I am having trouble finding stuff that works well for me too. The closest I've come is Jason's tea tree oil shampoo, and a conditioner called 2,500 calorie conditioner by Binge (freeman) that says on the bottle it is free of animal products and not tested on animals. Unfortunately it seems to be discontinued because I can't find it anywhere. :(

i used this stuff this morning http://www.naturesorganics.com.au/ and it seems really nice so far... the label says natural, but it's full of harsh surfectents and silicones... but it's cheap and seems so far so good :)

is citre shine still not testing on animals? I noticed on a newer bottle that i got a few months ago that they took that blurb off the packaging? not that it really matters too much, i like that one the least... it leaves funny residue in my hair, but i love the smell :)

I have waist lenght hair too, and I'm growing it longer so I understand how expensive some of the cruelty free products can be. I use a shampoo bar and VO5 conditioners (some are vegan some aren't read ingredients). I also use an apple cider vinegar rinse to close the cuticle because I have hard water.

Longhaircommunity.com is a forum that has some pretty good ideas about alternative haircare (some vegan, some not) Some people there have moved to water only, with no products which depending on your hair type and water type could work and is really inexpensive.

lol, i've tried all that. i post over there quite a bit, thats actually the place where I heard about these boards.

i went water only and i only lasted a few days. it was an awful experience for me. actually most of the things i have tried from over there have been pretty bad for my hair. if anything i should have listened to over there, it was to just do what works... and normal S&C works for me just fine :) I'm actually kinda liking this cheap stuff right now... even with the harsh sulfates! :)

i did the water only deal for about 6 or 7 months. i slowly went back. i'd love to go back to doing water only. i probably will soon. it definitely takes a while for it to stabilize.

Some of the weird stuff over there worked for me when I lived in Charlotte (my hair was loving conditioner only once or twice a week) but when I moved closer to the coast the water is really hard and I found I needed the shampoo. I guess it depends on your hair and where you live.

I used to post lots, but the community wasn't a good fit for me so I just lurk periodically now. My hair seems to have gotten just long enough to give me headache's w/ all my normal up-dos so I'll probably be back until i can get that sorted. I've had to wear it in a pony tail or down lately and it's starting to cause splits.

ETA- garnett do you post under the same name?
