Lara Bars

Has anyone tried Lara bars? They are all natural, just dried fruit and nuts kind of squished together. Anyone?

Larabars don't have chocolate in them. You mean luna or maya bars.

Some of them are all right, some are not-so-all-right. Different strokes for different folks. They're one of those things you have to try for yourself and see if you'll like them. Some are an acquired taste.

I have a terribly 'sweet' tooth...I don't like any of the lara/luna/cliff/etc. etc. bars out there. If it doesn't taste like a snickers, I don't like it! :)

Yes, Jessica you are right. I actually meant Cliff Bars are 100% Slavery free. Don't know what I was thinking.

I did have a cohcolate coconut lara bar once so some of them have chocolate in them but I have no clue where it comes from.

none of the larabars have chocolate- only raw unprocessed cocoa. all the flavors are raw.

anyhoo, I like the Cashew Cookie. the Apple is gross.

I love the Cashew Cookie. My only problem with them is they're small and very calorie-dense, so they have a fairly low satiety value. A whole bar is gone in 4 or 5 bites, and you don't really *feel* like you've just eaten 200+ calories, so there's a desire for more food. I tend to feel hungry again quickly after eating them.

yes, including other things, milk powder and fat, etc, etc. there is no chocolate in Larabars. just cocoa, and unroasted. if there was chocalate in larabars there would be the other ingredients that is used to make chocolate in lara bars, and they do not have those ingredients. thusly, there is no chocolate in larabars.

Chocolate also has other things, such as cocoa butter (the fat from the cocoa bean.)

Not to split hairs, but I'm curious where you get this from. Cocoa, by definition, is fermented and roasted cacao beans with the fat extracted. Chocolate is basically the same thing, in its simplest form, without the fat removed.

on hershey's website, it describes the unfermented unroasted bean as "cocoa"

on the larabar website, it lists Unprocessed cocoa as an ingredient.

on wikipedia, it descibes "cocoa beans in a Cacao pod" which i'm assuming that general usage is interchangeble between the two words or, at the most, the plant is called cacao and the beans, cocoa.
