Reading the product reveiws, most natural vegan deodorants do not work. :notvegan: Are there any brands that you buy that work well? What do you use if the natural deodorants do not work efficently? Do you buy non-vegan brands?

I'm curious because i do not know what to buy...:dizzy:

Thanks!

There are 2 that I like. I generally shower every other day or so and on the days I shower I use the crystal one, I just make sure to use plenty.......for me that was trial and error. On the other days I don't use anything, since becoming vegan I don't seem to need to and even my sister said I smell like cookies (OK maybe that was too much info ;) ). If I felt like I needed something extra or different I would use Jason's Tea Tree one. I tried two of the Tom's Of Maine ones and that they were sticky and did NOT work at all. I thought Jason's went on nice, stayed working through the day, and felt natural not sticky or thick or anything like that.

I've been using the Kiss My Face, Liquid Rock (lavender). It's only been a couple of days, but so far I like it. It is a roll on, so you have to do "the little flap your arms around to dry it" dance, but other than that it's okay.

Another vote here for Kiss My Face Liquid Rock (unscented). I've used it this fall and now winter and it works really well (no stinky). We'll see how it fares when spring and summer come:)

Another vote for crystal rock. Although I have the Kiss My Face liquid rock, too, which is much more convenient and just as effective. For once, I've WANTED my crystal to hurry up and run out so I can start using just the liquid rock. It lasts forever though.

I'm tempted. That stuff looks like it smells really good. (Huh, wha?)

:naughty: same here...

I think I'm gonna try that stuff...and since you said you liked it i guess that means it actually works! Ive tried the crystal, but after shaving it burns my skin. I need something with moisturizer...and I think natures-gate would work better.

I've used some great smelling ones such as Kiss My Face calendula and Tom's and Nature's Gate Lavender, but the sad part is that they just didn't do anything for my sweating problem. And I would have to use them like five times a day because I'd just sweat right through them and smell again. Meat eater, vegetarian, vegan...drink tons of water, or eat extremely healthy.. scrub my armpits in the shower and clean them throughout the day...didn't make a difference...still always sweated and smelled. Sadly, I had to revert to a unnatural and unanimal-friendly, Dove for sensitive skin, which has been a lifesaver. I mean, I just couldn't go around sweating through all of my clothes and trying to keep my armpits down at all times to avoiding unleashing my stench... I just can't do that and work in a professional, public service field.

None of the natural deodorants have antiperspirant because sweating is natural. The ones that ATTEMPT to have an antiperspirant just use baking soda or the like as an ingredient, not the aluminum that's in conventional antiperspirants. So you will sweat..but a good one (like the crystal/mineral salt) makes it hard/impossible for the stink bacteria to breed, so you'll sweat..but you won't stink. :)

i use the crystal a lot. sometimes i splash a little apple cider vinegar on after showering. that works well, too.

that grapefruit one looks kinda good, though.

Is the crytsal one cruelty-free? Obviously it contains no animal ingredients since it's just mineral salt or something, but how do I know it's not tested on animals? It doesn't say it on the label and I can't find the producer's websites online. All the brands of the crystal deoderant I've seen are from China and Taiwan, which means lots of pollution in transport as well.

Kiss My Face has liquid rock. They don't test on animals.
My crystal is the crystal stick from www.thecrystal.com, but I bought it at the regular drugstore. http://www.thecrystal.com/product_information.cfm They say not tested on animals on that page.

just a warning for any of you with young kids the nature's gate (we had the patchouli orange flavor) is very appealing to the tykes! I did actually taste it to figure out why she would push furniture around in order to reach the bathroom counter in order to eat the deodorant *gulp* and it's quite sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste (not a bad armpit to :lick:).

anywho I use the thai crystal stick and do really find it most effective (of all the natural deodorants i've tried)... a little tip to make it even more effective is to rinse it frequently during and after application.

echowarrior, that is hillarious. Kids will get into about anything I guess.
