Co-op teams up with Proctor & Gamble!!

Co-op one of the more ethical supermarkets have teamed up with the animal testing company P & G in a bid to raise money for a charity. For every P & G product sold the co-op will donate 3 pence to Wellchild a member of the Association of Medical Research charities that promotes the use of animals in research.

I for one will stick more labels than ever now on P & G products in the co-op telling customers that these products where tested on animals.:mad:

Is P&G only doing this with the Co-Op? These kinds of promotions happen all the time in the US, but most of the ones I've seen aren't limited by store.

The co-operative stores are popular here for their non animal testing stance and their own products are endorsed by the British Abolition of Vivisection (Bavs) with their bunny logo and many vegans and AR folks go there for their products.
The Co-opative bank is famous for its ethical stance and animal welfare issues
and is proud to announce they do not use products tested on animals. For that reason I dont target them with leaflets, will now though!!.

So this is why we are all horrified and dsigusted that they are teaming up with the vile P&G. Makes a mockery of their policies.

Yeah...I actually just bought some shampoo/conditioner there a couple of weeks ago. I like the idea of supporting a co-op, our local branch is opening again here in a few months' time.

Hm..strange that they would choose P&G to partner with.

I was always very impressed with the Co op, until I saw this piece (http://www.ethiscore.org/company.aspx?id=13240) about them from Ethiscore, which rates companies and products for Ethical Consumer Magazine. It's not very nice reading.:sick:

In the US, our ASPCA has teamed up with P&G. The ASPCA is actually asking people to buy P&G products because for a limited time, they recieve a few cents for every product purchased.

In the US, the campaign against P&G is essentially at a standstill, and P&G partners with many charities and grocery chains to boost public image. Perhaps the P&G campaign is still active in the UK.

The Co-op although do http://www.buav.org/ approved products as has already been mentioned with the rabbit logo and are probably one of the more "ethical" approved of "the bad bunch(supermarkets)" and have a good range of vegan labeled products.
They still raise money for the British HeartLESS foundation

If anyone does arrange demo's outside CO-OP stores also have leaflets showing about how animal testing is a danger to humans .
