I am so happy. :o I just came back from my grocery store and I noticed so many more organic produce and groceries. Del Monte also has a new (at least at my store) canned diced tomatoes. I shop on a very fixed income so organics at the whole foods is not an option for me, but now my store has more options. Also, cruelty-free products such as shampoo, body soap and even a few vitamins are being sold there. It might not sound like a big thing, but to me it is. I have to do my shopping on base because I can litterally save hundreds of dollars shopping there a month than if I went to the local stores. I'm so excited. I think I'm going to find out how I can send them some type of comment card to tell them what a great job they're doing. Just wanted to share the good news :bobo: Have a great day, everyone!

:) I'm marrying a soldier in six weeks and am continually amazed at commissary prices. On the local economy, a week's worth of groceries easily runs $100+ and EVERYTHING has to be made from scratch. He can get more for $20 than I can for $100 at a Korean store, plus he has access to such delights as S'ilk, assorted dried beans, spices, etc. Have had a couple of other wives over here tell me that the commissaries on the larger bases are really increasing their natural and organic selection. Can't wait to get that I.D. card and go shopping! :bobo:

pear_girl, if you have a stand-alone freezer (they're actually not too expensive if you go for the smaller models), you can have the commissary order certain items by the case. You just talk to the manager and fill out one of those requests. Then just pop in your freezer. If you know another veggie out there (maybe advertise on the bulletin board at the commissary or base paper) you can split with them.
MorningCalm, congratulations on your upcoming marriage :D
