I drink about a gallon of hot tea during a typical day. You might say I am slightly addicted. :) Anyway, I am getting tired of the typical supermarket brands i.e. Lipton and Bigelow and I was wondering if anyone had a favorite brand of tea that they would like to recommend. Thanks for your help.

I just ran across an organic jasmine green tea in dioxin free bags at the HFS by "Long Life" Green Teas.
I also like the "Stash" brand organic teas.

I'm a big fan of Stash teas. Right now in my desk at work, I have Stash Green Tea and a Stash Black Tea Sampler. I also have Twinnings China Black Tea.

I love "Celestial seasonings" "Honey, Lemon ,Ginseng"- Green tea. Unfortunately, they only sold them in packets of 4 teabags in a tiny basket at my local HFS, I bought them all, and now they're gone *sigh*. .:D
I also like "London fruit & herb company"' , both their range of fruity fruity herbal teas, and their green teas. Right now I'm drinking their Green tea & Jasmine variety, very good. Quality tea, and the packets are so pretty and colourful....;)

I'd have to say my favorite tea is The Republic of Tea (blackberry sage) it's really good! I also like black Indian tea, I believe the brand I use is Nirav, I make it with soy milk and a little tea masala :) You do need to use a tea infuser for these, they don't come in tea bags.

I am a bit of a tea purist. I like tea that tastes like, well, tea. :)
I purchase loose tea at a lovely shop in Portland called Tao of Tea (http://www.taooftea.com). It can seem expensive up front (especially if you've been drinking Lipton), but the difference in quality is worth every penny. You can do mulitiple infusions with most loose teas, so that cuts the cost a bit as well. Once you try loose tea, you'll never go back.
My current favorite is Green Dragon Oolong.
I brew my tea in my Bodum coffee press, then pour it into my teapot. That way the leaves have lots of room to unfurl, and I don't have to fuss with strainers.

Good Earth Original is awesome! It's naturally very sweet so you don't have to add any sugar (and it's actually better without). It also makes killer iced-tea. It's a very sweet/spicy flavor.

I love to make rooibos tea, sometimes referred to as red tea. It tastes (kind of) like black tea, but has more antioxidant benefits. There are a few brands that have rooibos, I believe the one I have in my kitchen now is by Kalahari.

I like Tazo tea. I've only tried "zen" green tea blend and "calm" herbal infusion wich is caffiene free.
I also like Seelect teas, my favorite is green tea cinnamon spice.

Select is really good. Tazo is not the best, but it's good, and easy to find.
There's some brand that come in black cylinder-shaped containers. I forget the name. Good stuff, though.

Are the ones in the cylinders from The Republic Of Tea? I have tried a few of those, and I like 'em. They can be expensive though. They have a new white tea with hybiscus or something, and it's twenty bucks for the cylinder!

Numi brand makes awesome teas. They the rooibos tea, lemon myrtle, and tons more. They are good. I found them at a little HFS near my house - I'd never heard of the stuff at that point. Next thing you know...I see displays poppiing up at all the HFS. You might give them a try, as they have different flavors, yet healthy benefits.

True, Republic isn't the cheapest. But be sure to check the per-bag price. The large cylinders are bigger than the average box. I used to work at a Coffee Beanery which, despite the name, had a great tea selection. Never paid for a bean or a bag the whole time, so when I left there, I was shocked to find out how much my tea habit cost me!
Then I learned the fine art of bulk tea shopping :)
DK - I haven't tried that flavor Stash on account of I really really don't like anything licorice-tasting.
Why are there no HFSs near me?!?!?!

I'm with JessB on the loose tea thing
but I do black, green, Roobois, Numi, and a host of various herbs (I'm not a purist at all)
I blend my own - it's kind of fun.
I get most of my black tea from the STRAND TEA COMPANY (www.strandtea.com) I buy from these guys a lot - the quality of their tea is fabulous.
I think my favorite company is one I found by accident
BONJOUR GOURMET (www.bonjourgourmet.com)
I get my Numi tea from them (if someone knows a less expensive source by mail - let me know...I use it a lot in my blends) They also have some nice imports (I buy the Illam and Kambaa from them) - Check out their Congou Emperor in Lichee and rose (fair quality, but the price is good - and it's GREAT in iced tea blends)
If you don't have a loose tea brew pot/infuser I recommend the Mikado (it's so pretty - and if you get the warmer - it is even better) I got mine at Adagio Teas (www.adagio.com)
(though when I make a batch of iced - I just use a pot and a super fine mesh strainer)
More than anyone wanted to know I know.......
I've got time on my hands (It's Sunday here) :)
