I grasp the hammer yet again;
my heart pursues the lesser things.
Shadows rejoice! at this betrayal,
crimson covers my very soul.
Plague of self absorbs this life;
as I bow and worship my holy mirror.
Your heart weeps the greater things,
I taste the fruit yet again.

Ummm. I think we need a seperate poetry forum.

Troub is getting all "holier than thou" with his poetry!!

I don't care what you say Troub, there's nothing wrong with consuming the poetry of Yeats.

Take this!:

HAD I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Take this!:

that poem has too much repetition for my tastes...
Yeats should of used this (http://www.thesaurus.com) when writing that.
I like some of his other stuff, im just saying... lol

Oh here we go again Mr Arrogant Poetrygan. You just think you're so much better than me because you know more about Yeats than I do.

In reality, if it's not Shakespeare, I'm not that interested.

But I love that Yeats poem because it was featured in one of my all-time favoritist movies: Equilibrium.

I seriously have feelings for Christian Bale that, were he aware of them, would make him uncomfortable. :yes:

..we band of brothers.

:rockon:

For he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother, be he ne'er so vile.

And gentlemen in England, now abed, shall think themselves accursed they were not here and hold their manhoods cheap, whilst any speaks, that fought with us upon St. Crispin's day......(that's what I can remember off the top of my head -- I think I missed a line or so)

There's no way I have the patience to line that up in verse.

:p

Ok. All I remember is "Romeo, Romeo. Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father & refuse thy name, or if thou wilt not be but sworn my love and I'll no longer be a Capulet" from like 9th or 10th grade.

That's impressive for having done it in 9th or 10th grade. :up:

I've done whole plays and I can barely remember a bloody thing. :hangheadinshame:

Thus while God spake, ambrosial fragrance fill'd
All Heav'n, and in the blessed Spirits elect
Sense of new joy ineffable diffus'd:
Beyond compare the Son of God was seen
Most glorious, in him all his Father shon
Substantially express'd, and in his face
Divine compassion visibly appeerd,
Love without end, and without measure Grace,
Which uttering thus he to his Father spake.

Let us not forget the most eloquent poetry of the modern age:

In A.D. 2101
War was beginning.
Captain: What happen ?
Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on.
Captain: It's You !!
Cats: How are you gentlemen !!
Cats: All your base are belong to us.
Cats: You are on the way to destruction.
Captain: What you say !!
Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time.
Cats: HA HA HA HA ....
Captain: Take off every 'zig' !!
Captain: You know what you doing.
Captain: Move 'zig'.
Captain: For great justice.

...its beautiful...
