I have several I switch between depending on my mood and outfit. One is brown courdoroy with a leather handle; I bought it at Bentley's before I was a vegetarian. A second is yellow vinyl with silver trim I bought at Zellers for $5 at their "end of summer" sale. A third looks like a navy blue bowling bag with white trim; I got it at a secondhand store. I think it's some kind of plastic. I also have a big red cloth bag covered with pictures of a Nefertiti-style Egyptian woman that my aunt made for me. It's my favorite -- I've gotten so many compliments from it from people on the street. :)

Mine is very boring. It's a small, black purse made of some sort of nylon/acrylic material. It has a long strap, and there are tiny white, blue and purple embroidered flowers on the front. The flap closes with a magnetic snap. I need to make myself a new one.

Years ago I had this really cute shiny blue vinyl purse, but it got stolen. Since then I've been purse-free and carry everything in my pockets. Makes me less nervous. When I wear a dress, I use this woven purse I got for cheap at some discount store.

Black hemp/cotton mix bag I bought at a market in cambridge. It has loads of pockets. It also has the pull tabs for zips/lining material with a leaf motif that looks like a pot leaf. So when people say (and they always do) "Is that weed on your bag?" I launch into my virtues of hemp talk and they are stuck with a 5 minute presentation from me.

I have lots of bags, and people would get bored if I went into detail about all of them. :)

thanks for the replies!
I was curious, because i have several leather bags I bought many years ago.........before i became more conscious about everything, they are expensive, LV, Dooney, bags...........i already sold a couple on ebay..........anyway, now I am addicted to those Vera Bradley bags
http://www.verabradley.com/Site/Home.aspx?
I have several, but I would like to get a new look like i had with the other bags i had, but obviously not leather, i was just wondering if there was a company or site that had nice non leather bags, i never looked in target, but there bag dept looks big i will have to check it out.

I just carry a tote bag that was a giveaway from Source of Life. It's cool, I can fit my lunch, water, wallet and everything in there.

I don't own any purses!
I do carry a Timbuk2 satchel thing to work and have it in the car most times, but for going into a store I just stick my phone/keys/wallet in my pockets.

I have a few... one is a little furry leopard print one I bought at Giant Tiger... I have a beige one that's a lot bigger, has a floral lining on the inside from Bentley... a little straw one with flowers embroidered on it with sequins (Payless maybe?) Sometimes if I have a lot of stuff I just grab one of my canvas bags I use for groceries.

I love/hate purses. I hate the burden of feeling like I need to carry half my personal care products around with me at all times "just in case!!" along with god knows what else... but I looooove cute bags and can't get enough of them. Currently I'm switching between these:
warning, not work or kid-friendly :D (http://howcool.com/catalog/popup_images/AD-FK-2218-PK.jpg)
my favorite at the moment (http://www.yakpak.com/assets/catalog/parts/1357-017.jpg)
adorable, but a little big and awkward (http://www.wholisticplanetstore.com/images/products/Orange_Leaves_Zipsack_1149955060_500.jpg)
I use this one for fancy special occasions :) (http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product_zoom_display.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552 4442115915&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024567&bmUID=1161147195360',400,500,'no','no)
one similar to this, also for special occasions (http://www.donkihote.com/images15000000/14269624.jpg)
I also have a fuzzy, black dice-shaped handbag for the casino that I can't find a pic of, but it's pretty self explanatory.
i have lots more that I don't use anymore but still keep for some reason...
yeah.... i have a bit of a purse problem....

Cheap vinyl wallet-on-a-string w/ pocket for a cellphone on the outside.
If I need to carry more than it will hold, the backpack gets put to use.

I love purses! I just got a large nylon and pleather purse from TJ Maxx - and it's great - holds everything. Target is also a great place to buy veggie purses. And I have several Vera Bradley bags.....and a dog carrier!

I miss being purse-free. You're making me want to attempt going purseless.
Hmm.
I have a friend who calls me Janitor Jess because I have about a million keys on my keyring, and you can always hear me coming.
My wallet's fat & I charge everything and never have cash.
I'm a chapstick/lip gloss addict.
My phone is too ginormous (sidekick 2.)
I'm going to have to enlarge my pockets before I attempt this.
To help me be purseless, I got "Chap Grip," a little sleeve that holds my chap stick on a key clip so that just stays on the keys. I have also slimmed by getting a key ring which quick-release separates so half the keys are in one place and half in another, and while they can connect, I rarely need both parts (can't drive both cars at the same time!) so I carry half the keys that way. Instead of a regular wallet, I use a business card holder--has room for my four credit/ATM cards, driver license window, a pocket for cash, and still one outside pocket left I rarely use. It's very slim and easily goes in a back pocket. My phone is the only thing that sometimes doesn't fit in pockets well, but I make it work!

No problem...I love finding new websites to shop at too!!! Did you check out the Promotional Collection Sale section, because some are up to 50% off??!! I ended up ordering the "Chuchai SM" in black yesterday!! I'm so excited to receive it. The shipping was very reasonable too...under 7 bucks!!

I have a professional-looking black leather purse I bought years ago at Goodwill. This is the one I use regularly. I have others, but they have not held up the way this one has.
My sister found a great red cloth computer case at a garage sale for $2. I carry my work laptop in this.
Unfortunately, the woven Himalayan bag I bought while traveling got caught on a handle or something, and one of the shoulder straps dangles by a thread. *sigh* I wish these colorful things were made to last. I'm hard on my stuff, and I don't have a lot of money, so it makes practical sense to use my thrift store leather purse.

I have my old leather bags I am still wearing out, but the new ones are canvass. My favorite is an efficient, cross body, hands free little bag with a spot for everything.

Mine sounds similar, but made out of nylon. I bought it from Mountain Equipment Co-op.

I have this one from REI in black: http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47991320&parent_category_rn=40003646&vcat=REI_SEARCH
I love this purse. There is a little pocket for your cell phone, a little pocket for your chapstick, an inner zip pocket and an outter zip pocket. Plus the strap is adjustable so I can sling it across my body. I hate purses that have to hang on one side of your body.
