so i am fairly knew to vegetarianism (2 months) and my reasons are the same as anyones. But i also read a lot about it and i am really confused. I am taking omega 3 pills to get the fish oil's that our body needs, and i am also taking B12 supplements and Vitamin B complex pills.. is this necessary and if so, are there any other supplements or anything else i should be doing?

thank you! :) :) :)

This should help:

I'm sorry I don't have exact answers as I'm still learning myself! I'm looking foward to the answers in this thread because I need to start getting vitamins and things to supplement my diet!!

Which path do you follow? Vegan? Ovo-lacto or lacto-vegetarian? Fish-oil isn't vegetarian. Maybe B12 is all you need.

I would just take a good multivitamin (one that says it's for vegetarians should have some extra b-12.) You don't need fish oil, just make sure you're including flax seeds and walnuts in your diet.

Get the omega-3's from the place the fish get it... Algae oil. http://www.rawfood.com/cgi-bin/order/index.cgi?id=367381513425&d=single&item_id=0694&c=Supplements&sc=Miscellaneous&tc=
That is a good brand right there. You can also just take klamath-lake blue green algae found in any health food store as well.

You can also take hemp and/or flax oil with coconut oil...combine it with a healthy diet rich in fresh fruits and veggies, and you should convert your essential fats just fine.

I think a good B vitamin is a good idea for a lot of people. Most of it is from bacteria so no need to worry about it being vegan. I take methylcobalamin sublingual b-12 tabs.
