Yeah, strange question, I know but am curious since my chair has seen its better days and I need to purchase a new one. When I purchased my current chair, I was not a vegetarian (about 8 years ago). Now, since I am a strict vegetarain, I do not want to purchase a chair with any leather or other animal derived items making up any part of the chair. Locally, the chairs which seem to be animal-free are very uncomfortable, and I am hesitant to buy online since I cannot sit in the chair first. So, where did you buy your chair? Is there a vegan chair that everyone prefers? I would prefer an office type chair, but may look into others if needed. Thanks!

Currently a wood bar stool I salvaged before someone threw them in a dumpster (4 in all). We use them around the computers at the counters in the retail storefront and warehouse.

I searched for office chairs for my home and couldn't get myself to pay the high price ($250 -$350) for decent one. New "cheap" was $120-$150. I finally found a pair of the high end one's at a yard sale for $20 each (I talked them down to take the pair). They were replacing theirs, because they didn't like to colors. A cheap re-upolstry (do it yourself) would have done the trick. One is an aqua blue (I'll redo the fabric on that one to beige), the other burgandy was which matches the bedroom office.

I'm sitting on a wood frame futon. Our bedroom is very small and we really wanted the computer in here so we decided to get a futon which is our computer chair (couch?) during the day and our bed at night.

I know, I'm a world of help for someone looking for a chair lol.

I have a variation on this at work, and it is pretty nice. I suspect it is in the ballpark of $700-$800 the way mine is configured (cloth).

I have a high back microfiber chair at home that was about $150 at office max. It is fine for a couple of hours but if worked at home I wouldn't get something so cheap.

I'm sitting on a cloth of some sort office chair (not sure what it's made of actually) If you can't find a chair that's comfy, maybe put some pillows down on it? GL .. oh and mine was free, after my dad's old company relocated they were offered to take what wasn't going to be taken w/them.

My chair is leather-free and it cost $19.99 at Target. However, it is not especially comfortable or supportive (I'm 19 and my mother, who is over 50, says if I were her age I would need a better chair). The other thing that just occurred to me is that although this chair may be cruelty-free as far as our animal friends' are concerned, I would have to assume that for $19.99 this chair was made by an underpaid, overworked assembly-line worker in a country in the East with minimal Human Rights protection. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in, you can't even buy an office chair without being implicated in a humanitarian crime...

My chair is an oversized, wooden chair that was going to be trashed by my former job at the university. It's probably older than I am, but it's nice enough. Wood, with a vinyl-covered cushion on the back. I just put a small pillow on the bottom and there ya go. Free, animal-free and (sorta) comfy and stylish in a 1960's office-kind-of-way. :)

I have a cloth and plastic "executive" office chair I got as part of a xmas present several years ago at Office Depot. It swivels and rocks and spins and it's extra comfy.

A $30 task chair from Staples. Some kind of cloth cushion for the seat. One arm fell off already and the other arm is about to go any day now.

A deliciously comfortable la-z-boy I got at an estate sale. Once I cleaned off the previous owners hair, may she rest in peace, it was my new office chair. Plus, for $20, it was a steal. Plus, when it craps out, I'll just dump it and look for another estate/garage sale. Just watch out for bed bugs and you'll be fine.

I use a "student's" chair, basic with no armrests. I think it's polyester, I know it's vegan, anyway. I got it at Staples, where we also got my husband's (much bigger, and with armrests) vinyl chair. Both swivel, which is important.

Fabric-upholstered, ergonomically correct office chairs are quite easy to come by. I have one at work and at home. Just go into Staples or Office Max and try out a few. Also, find any used office furniture stores in your town. That's where I got the office chair I have at home.

I'm sitting on an old simi wornout recliner made of velveteen corduroy. It is about 15 years old and know all my lumps and bumps. I do own 4 leather office chairs, but as they wear out we are replacing them with cushy cloth. Cloth is more comfortable anyway.
