Has anyone seen the new BK commercails?! I can't remember what burger they are advertising for but I know it has double the meat on it, and in it they have men walking down the street in a sort of parade. In the back ground there are posters hanging from buildings saying "men eat meat" and at the men it says like "be a man" or something similar.
It just outrages me to see that sort of message on TV, with stero-typical images of men and telling them "you have to eat loads of meat to be a big, strong man". The message is so clear, how could anyone miss it? I mean we're not cave men anymore people? And men (this is for you)you don't have to go out to BK and chow down on double patty, cheese chilli, or steak burgers to be a man!
Anyone with me? (or even know what I'm talking about? :o lol)

haven't seen them, but they sound ridiculous.
actually, all fast-food adverts are the same - slimy, crammed full of pro-meat propaganda, giving false information trying to fool people into thinking they sell healthy foods... it's all disgusting in the end.

I still stand by what I've said before in situations like these: The sexiest/manliest guys I know are vegan and vegetarian.
And, yeah, those commercials are really dumb.
What bugs me is that they call veggies "chick food". *sigh* Stupid commercials.

Tony LaRussa, Marv Levy, Alec Baldwin, Howard Lyman, John Salley are a few names of some good examples of veg*ns who happen to be quite "manly."

The "men eat meat" stereotype is annoying! People often seem to be under the impression that I am gay because I don't eat meat.

I thought you were gay because of your pink flower avatar.
Just kidding. :p I didn't know you were a guy at all until you pointed it out in the Manly Man thread.

Men that eat meat are not sexy and in my mind, it doesn't show compassion towards animals. It also isn't good for your body or the earth. Veg*ns are sexy. I am glad I have a vegan boy!
There should be a bumper sticker that says, "real men don't eat meat"

world view in 4 statements:
manly muscles are a turn on to da womens
muscles are made by eating protein
meat = protein
therefore, meat = manly.

Don't forget about those egg commericals that made eggs out to be good for you. Remember the jingle "the incredible, edible egg." :spew:

May I use this thread to rant about the latest couple of commercials from Carl's Jr.? The one where the guy is shaking the cow, and it's about a milk shake. And then the newest one where there's a second guy shaking a cow, and it's for a chocolate milk shake. Those make me want to throw up.

Mhm I know what you mean Amy. Another thing I despise is when restaurants use "happy" pictures of animals for their advertising. For example, A&W uses "Chubby Chicken" and KFC uses the chickne that is all happy, wearing a straw hat and overalls. It makes unconscious/naive consumers think subconsciously ; "wow he looks happy, chickens must be pleased and honored that we cruelly raise, slaughter and devour them!". :worried:

God, I am so happy I don't work there anymore. Those who praise them for their veggie burger, you shoudl know that sometimes the patty falls into in the meat juice left from the greasy meat patties because some people idiotically forgot to put the correct pan to catch the veggie patty when it falls. And they make you serve it anyways, even with bits of meat on them. They don't care about how serious some vegetarians are. So long as they don't know, there's no harm.
Their old chicken fries commercial annoyed me, too. I know a lot of people thought I was overreacting when I ranted about it here a long time ago, but I don't care. Their commercials are so stupid. And they double dip those stupid things in the deep fryer, too.
I know it's wrong for me to backstab my old job, and normally I wouldn't. But after I quit for another job, they were so icy towards me. As if they thought I considered myself too good to work there. Well people were already quitting left and right!

How long ago was it that you worked there psychem? It was only recently that they started asking all Burger King employees nationwide to always microwave the BK Veggie. Hopefully the new rules will cut down on cross-contamination for those that are concerned about stuff like that.

I have never been around sorta...matcho men tpye men because my dad is very much the modern man (and vegetarian) anyway, once I went to a friends house and her dad was being VERY "matcho" I mean he ordererd me to make him a fricking coffee! Being a 14 year old guest to the house there wasn't much I could do about that - or all the meat is for REAL men jibes. I just left it. but it makes me so angry ¬.¬ I didn't think that sorta thing existed anymore (lol)
On the bright side! At least BK are showing how ignorant matcho men eat meat, and we have a growing population of modern men. Never know, could put some people off ^-^

I quit my job in early July. So maybe it has changed since then.
But I still hate their commercials.

I can't believe that people thought that commercial was funny. Anyone who thinks that commercial is funny has a sense of humor that is of a serial killer.
