Has anyone tried this? Thoughts?

I had a nibble of it at the Wild Oats Deli where they had prepared it BBQ-style, and I had to do a double-take at the ingredients to ensure it was really meat-free. I'm interested in the deli slices, hopefully they'll taste less plasticy than the Tofurky hickory smoked that I've had in the past.

I've had it a couple of times at Whole Foods when I was somewhere where they have a Whole Foods. I don't usually like fake meats, but I loved this. I've never seen it anywhere else though...

I haven't seen this yet. It looks good, like something you could have for Thanksgiving. I'll try to find it and have a taste.

Haven't seen it either. Sure looks good. Probably not as good as Tofurky though. :lick: :D

I think that Chef Deb has a clone recipe for it and I have not tried it yet (cloned or otherwise). Shannon

I finally managed to find the slices at Wild Oats, and got the Smoked Tomato flavor. They're labelled as vegan, and taste great! I think I prefer it to Tofurky, it seems to have less of a plasticy taste. And at 90 calories & 15 grams of protein a serving, it seems like a winner for me.

I have not seen it yet, I would be initerested. Would I find this perhaps at a co-op or something, cause it is not at my local grocer.

I hated Tofurkey with a passion.

Found the Field Roast at Wild Oats shortly before Christmas this past year, and loved it. I'll get it for the holidays from now on. MUCH better than Tofurkey!

I had it at the Whole Foods in Boston, but we don't carry it at the one I work at in New Orleans for some reason. It was really good, and hearty. It wasn't something that tried to mimic meat, it's just good on it's own.

Tofurky is ok. The stuffing is great and the gravy is really great too. The tofurky itself is kind of rubbery though.

I tried the FR slices in lentil-sage and mushroom (before allergies). I loved the lentil and used to buy it until it became hard to find around here.
