View Full Version : Sports bras for big girls

I need some recommendations for sports bras that are good for those of us with ample boobage. I'm talking serious compression here people! I don't run, but when I do weight training I find the breasts get in the way. It's very annoying to have to keep readjusting myself when moving between exercises. I don't mind being in a straight jacket during my workout, so long as it keeps the girls in check.
Help me and my breasts have a happier workout!

easy.
1. the "frog" bra from title 9 sports http://www.titlenine.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=82&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=82&RS=1&keyword=frog+bra
2. Under Armour (any) racer back with adjustable straps ($ but worth it)
overall, racerbacks will give you more compression. and the cotton ones don't stretch as much so they mash you down more.

Alas, the frog bra doesn't come in my size. Curse you big boobies! Title 9 does have one they call The Last Resort  that looks like it might work. Unfortunately it's $56 (choke).
Edit: Apparently The Last Resort is the Enell bra, endorsed by Oprah even! Well yeah, I bet she doesn't bat an eye at paying over $50 for a bra. :brood:

Title 9 rocks. good company.
ETA: yeah, but one's all you need, right?
and hey, some people would kill for bigger boobies. :boobies:

Agreed! BPS, my best friend has large breasts and swears by Title 9 bras.
IIRC, you have a birthday coming up. B-day present? :)

Thank you for asking this. It's getting to be about the time for me to be searching for a new sports bra and I haven't found anything decent yet.

I want a sports bra that DOESN'T choke the girls. I want one that doesn't give me uniboob, too.

I'm not a big girl myself. I hardly even need a bra :sealed: ... BUT I saw this topic being discussed elsewhere.
This site is UK based, but I'm guessing you can get most of those brands here : http://www.lessbounce.com/

Ditto that.

Yes! I feel like if they give enough support, I'm going to suffocate. As far as the uniboob goes...well, I don't want to scare the lurking menfolk. :)

Until you've endured backaches, headaches, and sore shoulders from carrying 'em around since you were ten, you wouldn't get it...
Some of us would gladly give away a good portion of what we have and even then, we'd STILL be stuck looking for "special size" bras on the internet...
BPS, I have two of the 'Gamorise' sports bras from "lessbounce" - don't know how much they'll give you compression/support but they're comfy also, I have one of these http://www.lessbounce.com/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2elessbounce% 2ecom%2facatalog%2fsearch%2ehtml&WD=46d&PN=Online_Catalogue_Enell_Sports_Bra_3%2ehtml%23aE NS001#aENS001 thats QUITE supportive (almost too claustrophobic for me) when I want SERIOUS control.
Even though I suppose they do give me the 'uniboob' look, I could care less most days - I still like the comfort of my sports bras when I can get away with it.

The last resort bra from title 9 is THE best sports bra ever.
Yes it is 50 bucks but it lasts. I've ran 6 marathons in mine and am barely now thinking about buying another one becasue it is starting to break down. That is a lotta useage! Nothing else compares to it.

Heh, yeah, if they ever perfect that boob donar program I'll be the first to sign up. ;)
I don't mind the uniboob look, I look pretty crappy when I work out anyhow, uniboob is the least of my worries.

^^^ Yeah, I hear ya!
And I figure a uniboob is much preferred to the "saddlebags off to the sides of my chest" look I'd have when on my back for yoga and weights and stuff... thats definitely NOT a pretty site!

having to buy a bikini top in Limited 2 and then try to find a bottom to match in a regular store is an agony all it's own. :p and don't get me started on formal dress fittings....
eh, the grass is always greener, right? :)
the only shaper bras I would not recommend are the ones from VS. they won't give you uniboob but they fit terribly.
champion racerbacks are great for C or D's for training or yoga pilates type stuff. inexpensive.

I agree-I never even got very big when I was overweight, but that's one of the reasons I decided to lose weight. It was so uncomfortable having big breasts. I am pretty small now, but wish I was smaller.

I'm searching for good sports bras too. My main problem is that I'm very short, meaning that the length between my shoulders and boobs is very short too. So I usually need a bra with adjustable straps (I currently have Champion bras with adjustible straps which are ok, but I'm still always looking for something better).
For those of you who have the Frog bra, it doesn't seem like it has adjustable straps. Do you think this would be a problem for me? Also does anyone know any stores that sell this brand so I could try one on?

In the past I had an Athena Bra (http://www.titlenine.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=1511&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=4&iSubCat=479&iProductID=1511) and loved it. It had adjustable straps.

Back when I was a big girl and first started exercising, I'd just wear two sportsbras at the same time. I wore those champion sports bras from Target (now that I'm a bit smaller, I like the nike sportsbra with the crisscross straps in the back.) Anyway, wearing two at the same time helped with the bounciness and squished me down a bit. The girls will still get in the way when lifting weights (a small price to pay for ample boobage) but you get used to it. Sadly, mine got two sizes smaller since I started losing weight and I've still got 30 pounds to go.

I keep threatening mine, if they don't get smaller as I lose weight they're going under the knife. So far they don't seem to be taking me seriously. :brood:
I don't mind being well endowed, but 42G (for ginormous) is just ridiculous.

A friend of mine in college sports did the double-Champion bra thing and swore by it (plus our uniform over that which was fitted spandex with a shelf and pretty controlling too).
Another friend had reduction surgery and swears it's the best thing she ever did.

I have two friends who had reduction surgery and say that it's the best thing they did. Their insurance even covered it.

For the Under Armour fans, where did buy them?
