Well, all I have right now are a few spring flowers...don't have much going on in my little veg garden yet...I've only planted lettuce so far...we had frost warnings yet just a couple days ago.

Love the bleeding hearts! We've got one in our front yard that is growing soooo fast. This time of year is so great with all the flowers and everything else blooming. Great pics!

I refuse to show pics of my garden as I'm a little embarrassed at how eccentric looking it is. My friends call it the patchwork garden. I love it though - and it turns out a lot of eats :)

The mailbox Clematis is particulary nice and in such a prominent yet very pleasant position (allbeit a very green "suburban drive" I see) !!! :) :) :)

Thank you, FertiVegork. Actually, we're too far out in the country to be considered "suburban". On the other hand, it is a subdivision, albeit with large lots, so we're not country either, even though we're surrounded by fields and pastures. :D

The soil in this area is very heavy clay, so it takes a lot of work to prepare it to plant anything. The clay just gobbles up organic matter. The farm where I grew up and where my mother lives has the richest black soil imaginable. I always feel apologetic when I bring something down from the farm to plant in my yard.

O Mouse! Thanks so much for posting your pictures. They are sooooo beautiful!! :D I just love your clematis, I have one on my mail box too, it's only the second year for it so it is still very small. Are the pics you took recent? My clematis won't be in bloom for some time yet. I have another on the side of the house that is much more established....a Nelly Moser...Moster?? something like that...its pink :) Your azaleas are gorgeous too! I've never had much luck with them myself. Your blossom pic is outstanding! Who has the photographers' eye? ;)

The botanical garden was fabulous! very pretty! We have two in Milwaukee...that I know of. One is the Boerner (sp)? botanical gardens...it is all outdoor. The other is the Mitchell park domes, (I got married there) there are three domes they look exactly like the one in your pic...where the childrens garden was I think. One of the domes is an arid or desert dome, another is a tropical dome, and the last is a seasonal dome. I was just there last week as a chaperone for my daughters class trip. The seasonal dome was done up as a childrens garden!

I recently went hiking in one of our state parks, lots of wild flowers blooming...maybe I'll put up a picture book at image station. :D

Thanks, Slynny! I took the clematis photos a little over two weeks ago. I have a Nelly Moser too, growing along a fence, but it too is a relatively young plant.

The dome you see in the botanical garden photos is a tropical environment, very pretty, with winding pathways, streams and waterfalls. The other interior spaces are not domed. There's the Mediterranean house, which is lovely, with little alcoves, courtyards, fountains, etc. The garden also has a building devoted to arid habitat, and a small one that is filled primarily with camellias. The children's garden is part of a new section of the garden, devoted to home gardening, including both ornamentals and veggies. There are two large rose gardens. (The photos I posted were from just one of the rose gardens.) In addition to the Japanese garden, there's a Chinese garden, an English woodland garden, a daylily garden, an iris garden, an herb garden, a garden for the blind, a rock garden, and several shade gardens. There are also several reflecting pools in which these stunningly huge waterlilies grow--the pads are about 5 feet in diameter by September. It's just an amazingly beautiful place.

I hope you will put up an album from your hike on image station. However gorgeous cultivated flowers are, there is nothing to compare to the miracle that is wildflowers. I'd love to see your photos.

The parrot picture is a stained glass that my mom made. I have it hanging in my kitchen window above the kitchen sink. And the wheelbarrow, my dad made it for me.

Nice squash...I've never grown squash...well I grow pumkins and zuchinni but thats it. This year I bought some seeds for bird house squash...they looked to cool, but now looking at how to plant them they look like a pain. You have to nick the seed? then soak them for 24hrs fine ok then the soil has to be at least 65 degrees?? I have no idea what the temp of my soil is? I can only guess is would be a bit cooler than the air? O and then it says to make sure the tip is not to far under the soil...but I can't figure out which end is the tip, they both look the same. Ayway! If you have any tips on growing squash....

Love the wheelbarrow, I have a little cart that I plant flowers in front of the house:D

okay..so, i don't have a garden since the backyard officially isn't mine(i'm just renting a room here) but we have something that's come up which initially looked a lot like the squash my parents used to have in their garden. i'm not well versed in most plants, so i'm not sure how many other things it might possibly be. but i'm really hopeful that it might give me squash, or gourds of some kind, someday, ya know.

Wow, you all have such pretty garden pictures!! This is the first year w planted a garden, and we're doing some major outdoors remodeling within the next two years, so by the end of this all we should have some pretty stuff. So far this year we've put a lot of work into our garden but everything is still young and little, except for some of the roses. I don't have our digital camera right now...my mother took it on a business trip..but when she comes back I'll take some pictures of our garden and load them onto here. I'm so happy we started a garden...they're so beautiful and I never thought I'd say it but it's really fun and relaxing to just sit there and work on the garden, even if I'm covered in mud. :)
