sadly a lot of people I talk to believe that Animals in circuses was banned years ago. Even more sad than that, the truth is they havn't . Animals from as large as elephants down to pigeons and everything in between from camels, tigers , lamas, horses , farm animals and dogs etc etc are still been used and abused by these evil selfish scum .

Can I ask all of you the following:

If you see adverts for circuses to contact - http://www.captiveanimals.org/ ASAP asking them if that circus have animals in them or not .
If they DO have animals , to do the following :

ask the shop/place advertising it to remove the adverts .

organise a demonstration starting at least one hour before opening times,

contact teh police and let them know you will be doing a demostration so that they can attend-this may sound crazy but from past expereince it is the best thing to do as the circus lot do get very violent.

contact as much of the local media as poss and even the BBC and ITV will come and interview people.

If you ask shops if you can take down the posters and also take the discount tickets, from what I currenlty have been told, you are not breaking the law and so can remove and destroy the posters and tickets.

Make banners and contact :
http://www.captiveanimals.org/ and also
http://www.ad-international.org/home/ for leaflets and posters .

some ideas for what to put on the banners:

BOYCOTT THIS CIRCUS - ANIMAL ABUSE

ABOLISH SLAVERY-BOYCOTT ANIMAL CIRCUSES

ANIMAL ABUSE ON TOUR

CRUELTY IS NOT ENTERTAINMENT-BOYCOTT ANIMAL ABUSE

YOUR ENTERTAINMENT IS THE ANIMALS MISERY

----

If you find out that an animal circus is either already in or coming to a town near you , please contact CAPS- http://www.captiveanimals.org/ ASAP and tell them and also try and organise demos to start one hour before each opening times , get shops/businesses to remove posters, its better to have leaflets as back up to show the kind of abuse and neglect that happens.

At present there is no law protecting animals in circuses , they are having to wait until next year at the earliest to see what the Animal Welfare Bill will do, if anything if it gets the go -ahead.

If we all work together we can get these animal abusing circuses shut down once and for all, so support http://www.captiveanimals.org/ and organise/attend demos if you know they are having shows.

That's a good point go_vegan, a lot of people are under the misapprehension that use of animals in circuses is banned in the UK. Here's a few more thoughts...

Please sign this on-line petition...
Ban Circus's using animals in the UK!
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/979362421?ltl=1156596561

Take note -The Great British Circus is the only circus still touring the country with big cats. As well as tigers and lion cubs, they also have zebras, llamas, horses, pygmy goats, camels. Watch out for them visiting your area and if they do please act! Find them at The Great British Circus http://www.greatbritishcircus.co.uk.

Another show to look out for is Spirit of the Horse. There have been many demos against them already but more are planned. If you can please organise a protest against them for when they come to your area. For venues see their website https://secure.equestriantheatre.co.uk/bookings/venuelisting.asp

I've never seen an animal circus in my area since I was five...I have hazy memories of ponies being used for vaulting and an elephant. I'll keep an eye out though.

We get a lot of horse demonstrations around here, not all of them are bad, there are a lot that are showing better ways of training, like voice training, etc.
