Well before I get started, heres a backstory. I had the flu for 5 days, from sunday to thursday. I was in bed pretty much that whole time, sleeping. During that whole time I ate a little bit of tomato soup, half a bowl of squash stew and a slice of bread. I didn't have the urge to eat until around day four, and even though I wanted to, it was almost impossible. Reason being is that everything tasted terrible and as of wednesday, my wisdom teeth started coming in. Well since thursday my front gums behind my teeth have been swollen too. Lately, when I wake up my gums are bleeding. Its not a hygiene problem, I'm 100% sure of that. I looked it up and read that it could be malnutrition.

I've been forcing my self to eat what I can but I usually just stop. Even tofu was too painful to eat. I can't chew with my front teeth because my gums are swollen, I can't chew with my back teeth because my bottom wisdom teeth, and on top of that I have a sore throat(malnutrition symptom also) that makes it almost impossible to swollow solid foods.. I've been drinking smoothies and other liquids/soups lately tho.

If it is malnutrition, would the symptoms show after just four days? Or maybe theres something I'm doing wrong in my current (vegan)diet that's just started to affect me now? How long would've it been before these types symptoms start showing? Has this happened to anyone?

Don't know how clear I was on stuff I reread it and it makes sense but if theres any clarification needed I'll be more than happy to do so

Thanks.

i think you should go and see your doctor, or at least dentist, really. i very much doubt it'd be malnutrition after 4 days, but if your gums are sore and inflamed, then its gonna be painful, and you might get an infection in them too.

i had a real pain of a time with my wisdom teeth, and in the end my dentist just pulled the top two out under a local anesthetic, and it pretty much sorted it all out.

if nothing else, he can offer options like giving you a painkilling gel, or sanding them down smooth so they don't stab each other or your gums, so much.

I also doubt after 4 days it's due to malnutrition-unless of course your vegan diet hasn't been fulfilling your nutritional needs. When you say you've been forcing yourself to eat what you can, I assume you mean since you had the flu and the problem w/your gums.
It's very odd to me that your gums are bleeding...do you think you might intensely grind your teeth while your sleeping? Just a thought to consider. Even so, it all still doesn't make sense. Do you have an appt w/your dentist and/or doctor? If not, please make them. I'm not familiar w/these symptoms (only time I had major mouth probs was when I had braces) but they do not sound normal. Definitly go see your doc and dentist!

You can rule out malnutrition.
Two ideas: lack of fluid, because you needed more than usual during the flu; how about a seconadry infection on top of the viral infection?
I agree with the otehr: best see your GP and dentist.
