So, I have four pair of non-leather, animal friendly shoes and they make quite a racket! It's a little embarrassing when I walk around the halls at work...all you hear is squeak, squeak, squeak....anyone else find this happens to them? Anything I can do to make them stop squeaking?:D

mine don't squeak, but they are literally falling apart after just one year. they were not cheap, so I am tempted to say that those companies are making a fortune from vegetarians' conscience ;) I have written to the store that sold them to me, no answer so far ...
have you found out if it is the "leather" or the sole that makes the noise?

I don't think I can tell....it seems like it's coming from the 'leather'...

It seems not only artificial leather shoes are affected :) I just read that treating the affected areas with baby powder inside works :D I would post the link but I am not allowed to, yet :shifty:

I don't buy fake leather shoes, so I can't say.

But my shoes are vegan, not squeaky.

Vegan hemp shoes don't squeak. Have you ever tried those? They're eco-friendly too!

unfortunately, i do not know how to make shoes stop squeaking (i usually end up with 'farting shoes', rather than squeaky ones), but just to throw some ideas out there for next time you shop for shoes, alternative outfitters' criss-cross sneakers are comfortable, quiet, and fit my wide toes, and hot topic's vegan boots, while they aren't necessarily the most comfortable thing in the world, last a very long time (you can't really tell mine are almost three years old), and i don't have squeaky problems with them, either.

That's what I was going to post. I have some hemp iPath shoes and they don't squeak at all. I've only had them for a couple of months, so I don't know yet how well they hold up. How long have you had hemp shoes, Recycler?

My Vans are vagan (canvas), and I only just had to replace them after 3 years, and I basically wear them every day. If I don't, I wear canvas Converse hi-tops, slip ons, or just plain old sandal.....And none of these have ever sqeaked on me. I think it is the fake leather that does this. Just know there are cheaper alternatives.

My crocs only squeak if they are wet. Dry--no problem-o!
