I'd really like to set-up and maintain a exercise routine, but I have a hard time with my exercise induced asthma. I have an inhaler, but even when I use it I have difficulty with any sort of heavy activity. I can usually handle my asthma otherwise, and I'd rather not go on some sort of medication simply for fitness purposes.
So I ask you, VeggieBoards, are there any "lung-friendly" exercise you know of? What are those of you with bad asthma doing to be physically healthy?

Hii everyone, am asthmatic and I usually take singulair (http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s3344-s-SINGULAIR.aspx) and I have never tried the asthma friendly excercises because my doctor prohibited me from doing it. I get relief from singulair and I dont know if anyone of you do take it. It is surely good. Hope this information helps!!:guitar:

yoga is a good choice. i recommend slow forms like iyengar, kripalu, sivananda, and anusara.

Swimming is great for asthmatics b/c the air is warm and moist which makes for easier breathing. A number of olympic swimmers actually have asthma. I have athletic asthma and I find I can do anything except running. I just have to be careful of pushing too hard. I love bikram yoga - it's supposed to help asthma too. Good luck!
